The fact that I have titled this post Friday Favorites #1 implies I plan on doing this more than once, I’m hoping I can do this each week this year but sometimes I just draw a blank. In any case, I have five favorites to share with you today that I hope you’ll like!
#1 My Pillow! I bought this Christmas gift for myself and I am so glad I did! Here’s why I shop for my own presents: last year I mentioned/told my husband that I wanted this pillow after seeing it on TV. Did I get it? Um, no. This year I did because I am a way better Santa!
Here’s why I love it – the neck and shoulder pain I had been experiencing has vanished. I’m not even kidding. This thing works. In fact I told my bestie Lorie about it, made her get one (because I’m bossy), and she loves it too! It comes with a 10 year warranty and a 60 night money back guarantee. You have to try it!
#2 The best gift ever!
Here’s a picture of the very best gift I have ever received as a school counselor!
I couldn’t find the exact product online, mine is a trinket tray but this sentiment block would have the very same impact. If you need a teacher gift for the end of the year, get this!
So you probably know I am leaving my position as elementary school counselor at my neighborhood school to work as an elementary school counselor for Florida Virtual School. In fact I begin training on Tuesday. When I tell you leaving is hard I am not even joking. The majority of the time, when I’m in my true role as a school counselor I have the best job in the world. In the last few years, this one in particular, I’ve come across my share of mean and angry parents. Conversations that have left me sleepless and completely unappreciated. I received a gift from the parent of a little girl in kindergarten this year. She was having a hard time adjusting to school and cried every morning. Long story short once she and I got together we turned that around almost immediately. Her mother was so grateful and I am so happy to say my new friend walks in each morning with her head held high like she owns the place! I LOVE it, sometimes you just need to know someone’s there for you, in your corner, believing and supporting you. That’s all I did for this young lady. Her sweet mother sent me a card and chocolate earlier this school year as a thank you and then for Christmas she presented me with this gift that honestly means so much to me. I don’t do my job for the accolades and I certainly don’t do it for the money – like most educators I do it because I have a heart for children.
#3 New make up! One of the reasons I love buying cosmetics online is the free samples that get included with your purchase. Somehow I ended up with a sample of this make up. I couldn’t believe how much I liked it! It goes on so smoothly and the coverage is perfect! For reference I have oily skin and large pores along with my fair share of age spots so I prefer a full coverage foundation. I am obsessed with this!
#4 Reading! At the start of the holiday break I had all kinds of plans to get things done. My mistake was not writing them down because when I have a list I get it done, no list means lots of relaxing. In the process I read 4 books on my Kindle Fire. I read The Marriage Lie: A bestselling psychological thriller by Kimberly Belle, The Girl Before: A Novel by JP Delaney,The Mistake by K.L. Slater, and Liar by K.L. Slater. Seems a bit of a theme in my reading, eh? Yeah, I like mystery, suspense, psychological thrillers!
#5 Cold weather and fires! Nothing says cozy to me like warming up by a fire and if I have a good book to enjoy it’s like the icing on the cake. That being said I have absolutely loved these last few days and the cold snap we’ve had. Call me crazy but since we spend the majority of the year burning up the cold weather is a welcome change.
So there you have it, first Friday Favorites of 2018. Since I have absolutely no idea how my new job will impact my blogging my hope is to post at least 3 times a week. Since I’ll be working from home I plan to write a few posts on what to wear as you work from home to avoid falling into a frumpville!
Make this a great weekend! While I intend to I’ll also be sad as we return our son Nolan to Gainesville as he begins the second half of his sophomore year. He’s an industrial engineering major and when I looked at his course schedule I almost died – dang, it looks hard!
Thanks for stopping by friends!
