Criss Cross Stripe

Happy Friday before a long weekend friends!
I always love a Friday but especially one that kicks off a holiday weekend. I have a long overdue hair appointment and I must get my nails done because, you know, the nail polish bully returns to school on Tuesday! Other than that I don’t have any major plans and that is just fine by me.  I love a relaxing weekend.

Today I am sharing an outfit I wore to work on Tuesday. It was thrown together last minute but turned out to be a winner, I received so many compliments! The funny part is that I had almost resigned myself to the fact that I’d probably never wear this skirt again because I didn’t have comfortable shoes. Isn’t that crazy? Thank goodness my new wedges worked! It may sound silly but I had gotten almost depressed thinking I’d never wear heels again. Looking in my closet and realizing so many of my outfits required a heel was seriously getting me down. It may sound dramatic but maybe a good pair of shoes really can change a life!

It all began with the criss cross shirt. I bought this months ago from Shein  It’s so versatile and I am in love with the thicker cotton fabric, it wears so nicely and washes so well! I was reaching for a maxi skirt when I saw this old skirt hanging in my closet. My skirt was purchased a few years ago from White House Black Market. The black stripes on the camel colored background are not colors I am normally drawn to. However, it was on sale and I really loved the ruffled hem. I don’t recall how I last wore this skirt but I love it with the criss cross black top.
The great thing about wearing a top with this criss cross design is how simple it is to accessorize. Personally I don’t like to wear a necklace with a top like this one, if I did it would have to be very delicate. I wore black stud earrings although at the time of day when these pictures were taken they were long gone! My favorite cuff was the perfect addition along with my watch and a simple enamel black bangle.
These pictures were taken at the end of a very long day that included getting caught in the rain a few times. The minute I saw the sun poke through I asked my son to snap some pictures for me. The good news is that my outfit still looked fresh even if I did not. Both my shirt and skirt have enough stretch in the fabric to hold their shape. Look for pieces that are well made; quality doesn’t always have to cost a lot. Shop the sale section and read labels.

Have a wonderful weekend friends!
