Completer Pieces for Fall
Completer pieces for Fall include things like jackets, blazers, vests, cardigans, shackets, and shirts. Basically anything you add over the rest of your outfit to pull it together and give it that final touch. It seems the term “completer piece” was coined by What Not to Wear’s Stacy London and Clinton Kelly. Oh, the good old days…I watched them religiously and could not get enough!
It won’t technically be Fall until September 22nd but for many, once school starts it’s all things pumpkin and cozy. In my neck of the woods it will still be extremely warm well into December so I’m sharing a more realistic version by wearing a white column and adding several different completer pieces. Remember these are just ideas and you can change up the looks however you’d like.

How a Completer Piece Benefits You
Completer pieces are wardrobe staples. By making sure you have one of each of these pieces, you are well on your way to having a remixable wardrobe. These pieces help you put outfits together easily – just think of your base and then add that final piece to top it off.
Denim Jacket – the MVP of Completer Pieces
I’m calling a denim jacket the MVP because most everyone has one and it’s typically the easiest to style. Throw on a denim jacket and change the accessories to add personality and style. This versatile piece works with a sneaker, heels, flats, boots, and booties.

Blazers for a Sophisticated Look
A blazer instantly levels up a look. While a denim jacket can take a dressier look to a more casual level, the blazer is the polar opposite. The blazer takes a more casual look and makes it dressier!
Whether it’s a more fitted style or oversized, single or double breasted, a blazer can do no wrong. This plaid one is a recent purchase and I can hardly wait for the weather to cool so I can wear it.

Lightweight, Long Cardigan
A lightweight long cardigan is equal parts a and comfortable. When the weather isn’t quite sure it wants to be cold but it’s done being blazing hot, a lightweight layer is just the thing. I think it’s slimming and elongating.

Trendy Cropped Cardigan
The trendy cropped cardigan is back again this year. It looks great over this casual base outfit and easily gets dressed up with accessories. It’s great for draping as well!

Wild Card: The Perfect Shirt
Sometimes you need just that little bit of a layer to cover up with – enter the perfect shirt from Chico’s. I own this in several colors and any one of them would work. I love this shade of blue and I’ve heard that both blue and pink are trending for the upcoming season! Adding the shirt adds extra style as well as function – especially if you’re wearing a tank or camisole.

Completer Pieces Not Mentioned
I’ve merely scratched the surface with the pieces I own. Other completer pieces include things like utility jackets and moto jackets. The possibilities are endless. Do you have a favorite?
