Common Threads Wrap Up

Well, I did it.  Like Sinatra, my way, but I did it.  I have never participated in a style challenge before so this was a big deal for me.  Incorporating the same 5 pieces into each outfit worn for a month seemed pretty reasonable unlike other challenges that are more restrictive.  I know I am not cut out to ever do a capsule wardrobe, I am way too much of a mood dresser for that business!  Here’s a little recap of the last few days of the challenge!

I wore this on Friday shopping during the day and then out for happy hour with friends. The temperature was actually cool enough all day to keep the scarf on. A cargo vest is the perfect piece to add a little extra style to an otherwise plain outfit. Personally I love wearing mine because it hides back fat! Yup, I said it. If I’m wearing a tee or other knit top it’s pretty much a guarantee that there will be some type of bulge near my bra straps, the vest takes care of that! I have been chomping at the bit to wear my new camo scarf (similar). My skinny jeans and open toe booties kept me comfortable all day and night!
On Saturday night we went to dinner with Nolan and his girlfriend and then to our nephew’s annual haunt. The haunt did not disappoint and as always I am impressed by the creativity of these young people. I tried a selfie in our kitchen and then had to take a bathroom selfie of my ensemble du jour!  Hopefully you get the idea!

I chose my skinny cargo pants. It was warmer Saturday night and rainy so I chose an OTS top and this stacked stone necklace.

Sunday we said goodbye to Nolan – boo! Another cool front blew in so I was able to bundle up (Florida style – ha!) for an afternoon of grocery shopping and lunch out at the gas station! Yes, you read that right we picked up subs from Wawa. I had never had their subs before but they were good and we’re fancy like that! While the venue for our lunch date wasn’t a winner (necessarily) I thought my outfit was!  Sticking with the challenge I wore my gingham bell sleeve top from Loft but this time I wore it with a black duster and jeans. I loved the result and wearing the top layered like this kept me warm.

Monday meant back to work and another chance to wear my new camo scarf (similar). This time with my cargo pants, a blush colored button up shirt, booties, and a shearling vest. By most standards it wouldn’t be necessary to whip out a shearling vest but once it dips below 75 it’s fare game for all outerwear. We’re all like, “Hey, it’s freezing, let’s light a fire! Turn on the seat warmers, crank up the electric blanket!” Not even kidding! I’ve come to the conclusion our homes are not insulated properly. I should also add I am not complaining because I LOVE it cold!!!!!

So that’s it friends. How I ended October with the Common Threads Challenge. While it was fun mixing and matching my 5 pieces I am ready to move on and retire them for a bit. How about you? Would you ever commit to a clothing challenge?

Thanks for stopping by, I am looking forward to seeing you back here on Friday! Until then, make it a great one!

Kellyann
