Bright Pants

Bright colors make me happy and today I need some of that! On Saturday we did the college drop off and while it was easier this year than last, my heart is still a little sad. To combat that I’m choosing to focus on fun, happy things and today’s outfit does that. I’ve shared these pants before but I’m not done yet! This time I’m wearing pretty basic pieces and adding a little fun with my accessories. Nothing I’m wearing is brand new so I’ll link similar pieces but my guess is you might already have something in your closet that will do the trick!

If you haven’t noticed, sleeves are all the rage these days. Everything from cotton tees to silk blouses seems to have a fun sleeve. If you are looking to update your wardrobe, buy a new top with a fun sleeve. This tie back ruffle top is a great basic and it is currently 60% off!!!! Every wardrobe needs a white blouse or two and this one has sleeves that add a little flair to what could be a boring basic. Pairing a basic white top with bright pants is easy, right? Most of us, when faced with an interesting color pant or skirt, will gravitate towards a white or black top because it works, right? So to keep things interesting add in some fun accessories.

Most of my colorful necklaces come from Accessory Concierge. Visit their site and sign up for their emails, they often have great sales! I love their fun, colorful, beaded necklaces. Both of the necklaces I’m wearing today come from them. The shorter, turquoise necklace may be a little more daring for those of you who feel you need to match colors in your outfit. For you I have my longer, silk tasseled necklace – it brings in turquoise and has a bit of the magenta color in the tassel. I threw on some colorful bracelets too.

You knew I’d be wearing these wedges because I can’t help myself. They are so comfortable, I know you’re tired if hearing it but it’s true! Don’t mind my missing head in this picture, I decided to cut it off because I looked silly but I wanted another shot with the tassel necklace.

Here’s what I know to be true – when you mix and match different pieces from your closet and add in a new color with accessories you NEVER have to worry about someone else wearing the EXACT same outfit! Give it a try.

I’m including a couple of pictures from our college drop off. Last year our son lived in a dorm. This year he’s moved into a townhouse with three other guys, one being his roommate from last year. The complex reminds me of Melrose Place – do you remember that show? I loved it. Anyway, the complex is old but has some charm. Last year I cried like a baby after we left and even days later when I was alone. This year I am determined to focus on the positive. I am in good company with a few of my blogging besties – Andrea and Lisa. It’s fun to share experiences such as these important events with others. If you have a son or daughter headed off to college please know I feel for you and with you, here’s to a great year!
