Best Jeans in Summer & Style Six

Happy Wednesday friends! Let’s talk summer jeans, shall we? Let me begin the discussion by admitting I don’t consider jeans a summer staple in a hot, humid climate like the one I live in. However they do have their place. The best jeans in summer are those that are lightweight, not skin tight, and just feel good. Do you get me?

On most days I gravitate towards a dress, skirt, or shorts but there are some days I just want denim. I do love my white denim, as evidenced here. But I consider these to be my best summer jeans. They are old (at least 10 years) they are distressed and continue to get even more so with wear.

Summer calls for comfort and relaxation, don’t ya think? That’s what these jeans say to me. When I slip them on it’s like being reunited with an old friend. Do you have jeans like that?

I wore this outfit last Thursday. Where did I go? Nowhere. But that’s no excuse not to get dressed and feel great. The truth was last Thursday I worked 15 hours, only stopping to eat lunch and dinner. My work has been so busy. So busy that I never got a chance to get pictures. Nothing a quick load of laundry could not fix to throw it on again Friday – the only problem? Thursday was a much better hair day for me. Oh well, you win some, you lose some.

It was this $6 top that drove the idea for this outfit. I love the mineral wash, the soft cotton, and the relaxed fit. But what I really love is adding a statement necklace to an otherwise distressed outfit. It’s the shabby chic lover’s dream.

I can’t get enough and that’s why these jeans will be in my possession until they literally fall apart. Hey, this may not be your cup of tea. I know many believe distressed jeans are for the younger crowd and others feel they shouldn’t be worn at all. To that I say, then don’t wear them. But this 52 year old will wear what she likes thank you very much!

Speaking of what I like, last week my favorite post was this one from my Ageless Style sister Debbie of Fashion Fairy Dust. You may have noticed I shared a similar look on Monday. When my new graphic tee arrived I knew one of the ways I’d be styling it was with my leopard skirt!
