A Tale of Two Shoes

TGIF friends!
What a week! Today I am most excited about picking up my son from UF this afternoon for spring break. I can’t wait to see him, he’s had a tough week and I can’t wait to spend time with him. He’s my shopping buddy so I know we’ll be hitting the stores for some retail therapy!

Today I bring you the tale of two shoes that ultimately ended with finding the “It” shoe for this spring and summer. It all started last year when every fashion blogger was wearing these shoes. I fell in love and wanted a pair so badly. At first I couldn’t justify the price but then they were sold out. Everywhere! Well I’m happy to report that I managed to survive #dramatic but this year they’re back again.

And because I shop online alot and like it’s my job #wishfulthinking I found some more affordable options. Up first is a pair from Gap.. Their price tag is almost $100 less and they come in great colors. I ordered them using a promo code and got them for $46.00 -bargain! When they arrived I tried them on and I’ll admit I was so impressed. The leather is soft, yes, you read that right, leather for that price. But I hesitated to wear them because I found a pair from DSW that looked good as well. So I ordered those too, they are by Steve Madden. And then I waited for them to arrive so I could compare.  I ordered both in my usual size 9 which seemed to be just right for both.

Upon opening the Steve Madden pair I thought they would be the ones I’d ultimately keep. However, after trying them on I decided against them. In my opinion they were much heavier than the pair from Gap and there was the tiniest piece of stitching that rubbed my foot. And the strap on the pair from Gap was made of soft leather, not so with the pair from Steve Madden at DSW. Both were priced reasonably, the pair from Steve Madden are $59.95 at DSW. In the end the pair from Gap were just more comfortable and since I plan on wearing these ALOT that is important to me.

Take a look at how they looked on me in the photos below. Seriously it is hard to tell them apart! You will be seeing a lot of them in upcoming posts because they’ll go with everything! Shorts, capris, skirts, dresses, pants, denim – you name it. I suggest you try them both and see what works on your foot better.  First up is the pair from Gap.

And now the Steve Madden pair from DSW.

And for fun a little side by side comparison:

The shoe from Gap is on the left (my right foot) and the Steve Madden shoe in on the right (my left foot).

I hope you enjoyed my tale of two shoes and you are inspired to try a platform espadrille yourself! That’s what’s in This Blonde’s Shopping Bag today, why not add a pair to yours? Great news, right now Gap is offering 40% off your online purchase with code FORYOU.  Have a fabulous weekend!

Fashionably yours,
Kellyann
