A Guide to Practical Gifts

It’s that time of year again where we are inundated with gift guides. I’ll be completely honest, I rarely read blog posts when I see them in the title. I get tired of seeing the same thing over and over again, the prices don’t match my budget, and I really don’t buy a ton of gifts. So when I mentioned it on my Instagram Story last week and published a poll I was floored that my audience wants to see them! Who knew?? Now clearly, I may have a different audience over there but people are people. I promise not to go overboard with gift guides but I hope you find this round up of practical gifts useful.

A Guide to Practical Gifts

I bet you have at least a few people on your list that can appreciate a practical gift. These are the no-nonsense types that don’t like clutter or trends. While my favorite gifts to give are experiences there are times when an actual gift is preferred. Let’s get to it!

Practical Gifts for Men

The men in my life are notoriously hard to buy for; my husband especially. Years ago we drew names with the adults in my family and everyone felt like schmucks when we all had giant lists of what we wanted and he wanted one thing: a donation made to our church. Clearly this is not the man who wants anything luxurious. In fact, last year he appreciated the battery organizer I purchased.

I think these lighted gloves would be so handy for the man in your life who is always tinkering or fixing something. You may even have a woman in your life who would love these as well. Not having to hold a flashlight makes working so much easier!

For the traveler, this portable foot rest is so helpful. If you have ever done any kind of traveling and end up with swollen ankles, you need this in your life!

I’ve mentioned these before but these insulated glasses are a must have. My husband, aka Mr. Practical, loves these. Initially he ordered a set of two but ended up buying 4 more.

An alarm clock that serves as a charger is useful too. It includes a wireless charger and would be perfect for travel too.

Practical Gifts for Women

Something I use every time I’m in my car, are these hooks. My biggest pet peeve is a messy car and I can’t stand it when things are flying all over the car. My bags and my handbag stay put – no spilling – thanks to these hooks.

This magnifying mirror has a gooseneck and attaches to a wall mirror snugly – no sliding. It uses batteries to light up and is easy to pack. I am so happy with mine – I use it daily to put on make up and for my contact lenses.

These necklace layering clasps make it so easy to wear multiple necklaces. I gifted these to my mom and she absolutely loves them. They keep her multiple necklaces from getting tangled and they make it so easy to put on, rather than clasping each necklace you just simply use the one magnetic clasp!

They may not know they need this until they use it, but this headband and wristband set will be used daily! Such a nice way to keep your arms dry while washing and rinsing your face.

I’ve yet to meet a woman who doesn’t love a good face mask. These silicone brushes keep your fingers clean and are more sanitary. Once the mask has been applied, simply wipe clean.

Practical Gifts for Anyone

No matter your age, if you enjoy popcorn as a snack, then this silicone microwave air popper is essential. Pair it with some popcorn kernels and this spray butter for a thoughtful and useful gift!

This food chopper has changed my life. That may sound dramatic but darn, this thing is good. Anytime I use it in someone’s presence, they want it too. So easy to use and easy to clean.

Charcuterie boards are so popular right now. Check out this board – it’s kind of an all in one board. It has everything you need all in one!

Well, that’s a wrap my friends. I hope you found something that special person on your list might enjoy. If you have anything you’d add to the list, please let me know in the comments below!
