Where and What

My last Friday of Summer break has arrived, ugh. Part of me is ready to get back to the routine of my day to day work life but the other part of me will miss the relaxed pace of Summer. Ready or not Monday is coming for me! Today I thought I’d give you a glimpse of where I’ll be spending my time and what I’ll be wearing. Keep in mind I am an elementary school counselor and Monday begins pre-planning so there are no students. The dress code is relaxed and many of my co-workers will be wearing shorts, tennis shoes, jeans, and tees as they get their classrooms ready. Since I don’t have a room to ready I’m choosing to wear fun pieces from my closet that won’t make the dress code cut once students return.

First up, where I’ll be. The majority of my time will be spent in my cute office. Yes, it’s pink and black. Yes, that’s a chandelier in the corner. Life is better with a chandelier and I believe every room should have one (I even have one in my laundry room). This office is the result of telling my seriously talented interior designer sister that I wanted to add some pink and black accessories to my office. She had different ideas after seeing the space so I handed over my credit card and now I have the happiest space in the school #ifidosaysomyself.

As you can see while my office is decorated fabulously it’s also small and looks a bit like a garage sale right now. The bags are full of school supplies for needy students and there are piles of paperwork waiting to greet me. Yay me! #sarcasm

Now for what I’ll be wearing. Off the shoulder and cold shoulder tops and dresses all week! Except for Thursday when we host our Meet the Teacher event – and then I’ll look a bit more professional.

I bought my dress last Spring and it appears to be sold out this one, this one, and this one are similar and under $28!!!! Woo hoo!

I am planning on wearing my new wedges but when I’m not in those it’ll be my
Vionics.Just yesterday I was at Dillard’s and they had several different styles on sale – actually seriously discounted! Especially if you live in a warm climate you will be able to wear sandals for several more months, why not get a comfortable pair? You may not have known this but if you order directly from Vionic you get free shipping AND free returns! I did not purchase any new sandals because for now I think I’m set but I have my eye on some booties they make. I can’t wait to try them!

Before I go, just in case you didn’t know, this is the last weekend for the Nordstrom sale so if there was anything you were thinking about it’s time to pull the trigger. Prices go up Monday.

Thank you so much for stopping by and wish you all the best and happiest weekend! I am doing something super special on Sunday that I can’t wait to share with you – my heart is so full. Till then shop on!

Well, I am so jealous of that office space! Just precious and I bet the kids love it and I know they love you!! The hospital has to have standard colors in all offices but I do have little decor pieces and a TV, LOL. I’ve said it before but I bet you are the most stylish co-worker at that school! Love you in the one shoulder and here’s hoping this last weekend before work treats you sweetly!! xoxo

The kids LOVE my office, in fact, it’s the boys who seem to like it best, isn’t that funny? I used to work in a hospital cancer center so I know how strict they can be. My office has been this color for about 8 years now because my previous principal ok’d it. If my current principal had been in charge back then I would have never gotten away with it, she would have called a million people to get it approved and it wouldn’t have worked. Haha! I’m hoping to make the most of this weekend, hope yours is great too!

I just know you are the best guidance counselor ever. We had such a young sweetie-pie girl as my kids counselor when they were in elementary school and we became friends and still stay in touch of FB. I love that. Your office is absolutely darling and I bet the kids love coming in there. I saw you said the boys like it…go figure? I’m going to guess it’s not so much the office as the pretty lady sitting behind the desk.? Enjoy your weekend sweet friend!

Thanks Lisa! I used to be the young, pretty counselor but now I’m as old as their grandmothers, lol! It’s true. I can’t tell you how many times I hear, “Guess what Mrs. Rohr it’s my grandma’s 45th birthday today!” And I’m like, oh great, I’m older than your grandma! Once I had an intern and everyone thought she was my daughter, so yeah, I’m not foolin’ anyone, they know I’m the old woman on campus.
I hope you’re enjoying your trip sweet friend!

OMG…Kellyann, your office is FABULOUS!! I so wish my classroom walls could be painted a fun color like that. I do decorate it up so it’s more like home away from home for me and the kids as opposed to a classroom. I might have to steal your idea and share some shots of my room so that everyone knows where I spend the bulk of my waking hours once school starts. Your dress is super cute too!

Thanks, I do love my office and since I have boys at home I don’t get to decorate too much with pink! I love seeing how teachers decorate their rooms, so different than when we were growing up, right? I see so many cool posters and mottos on the walls about being a class family and some teachers incorporate pictures of their students’ families, it’s pretty neat and a lot of work for them but makes for such a homey environment. I’d love to see your classroom and I know everyone else would too!
      Enjoy your weekend!
