The Look for Less

Did you ever see the show “The Look for Less”? I think it was on E! I was obsessed, but I loved all the makeover shows #ripwhatnottowear. I’m a follower of lots of blogs and I find them to be such a source of inspiration. Lots of times what I am inspired by is out of my price range but there are so many great places to shop online that it’s easy to find similar pieces to fit any budget.

Here’s my outfit and below that my inspiration:

Check out For the Love to read the original post. It’s beautiful and so is she!

Pleated skirts have been on my radar for awhile now. I love all the fabulous, sparkly fabrics for the holidays. If only I had places to wear these beauties I’d be scooping them up!

Take a look at these beauties:

Aren’t they gorgeous? If I had a special event coming up I wouldn’t mind investing in one of these skirts.  But since I like the look so much I knew I could re-create it for a fraction of the cost.

So here’s what I did.  I shopped at Shein for a skirt and found this one and it was only $22! The next piece, my camisole, I already owned but this one is similar. I found this faux leather moto jacket and bought it during a promotion. Although I own a pair of leopard heels mine just didn’t look right. I ordered this pair from DSW and I am so pleased, they are actually comfortable and just under $40!

Here’s a close up of the shoes:

Although I dressed up my skirt in this outfit, pleated skirts look great dressed down too! I’m scheming other ways to style my skirt. In the meantime, this outfit works well for lots of occasions this time of year!

The jacket will be great once it finally cools off, for the price this one can’t be beat! It’s so easy to style with a basic tee or cami. Just add a little sparkle with a statement necklace and I believe you have a winner!
Before I go I want to share a few more skirts with you. These are from Target and I am seriously crushing on the crushed velvet, blush colored skirt!

Do you ever re-create an inspiration outfit for less? It’s one of my very favorite things to do. I am pleased with the final result of my outfit and the pieces can be worn lots of different ways. I hope you’re inspired to do the same. You can look fabulous no matter what your budget is!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, it seriously means so much to me. I’m working on a Thanksgiving wrap up post so stay tuned. Next week you’ll get to see inside my home as I take you on a holiday tour! Fingers crossed the final steps are taken to complete our kitchen reno!

I hope you have the best day ever and remember kindness doesn’t cost a thing but it pays extremely high dividends!

XO,
Kellyann

Thanks Nancy, it’s fun to re-create a look that fits in my budget. I haven’t always been a fan of the pleated skirt – well actually that’s not true – I have always liked them but never thought they looked very good on my tummy area but since my cami skims that area it works!

I think with your supermodel height you’d totally rock a pleated midi skirt!

Thank you so much Laura! I am so pleased with the new design, I actually feel like a legitimate blogger, lol! Now if I just didn’t have that pesky full time job I could really be somethin’, lol!

Love it!!! I’ve been eyeing all those cute pleated skirts too but don’t have any place to wear (even a cheap) one. It would look really cute with a tee (which I bet is already in your head😉). Love your new shoes too. The heel looks like the perfect height. I love how you “recreate” outfits. I try that some too, but I’m so dang OCD I feel like I need the EXACT same pieces. I’ve got to get over that! Great recreation beautiful! You nailed it!! XOXO

Thanks Lisa! Our life is so casual anymore that I really have no place to wear anything I crave anymore! I guess I can always dress well for Target, right?! Ha! I am thinking a tee with this skirt but I’m still playing around (in my head) with getting just the right one. And I’m with you – I’d love to have the exact pieces but man, sometimes they are just too expensive and I buy way too much to be dropping $80 on a skirt! It’s a fun hobby now that would be even better if I used what I already owned.
You are just the sweetest my dear friend!

Thanks Carrie! You brought up the outlets and it reminds me I haven’t been there in ages! I probably need to take a day off to go, the outlets here are so crazy busy on the weekends but I sure do love the deals.
I bet you would look terrific in a pleated skirt! I am going to make myself wear this one more often and not just save it for fancy events – goodness knows I don’t get the opportunity to go to anything fancy, lol!

Adore you in this, Mrs R, it seems perfect for the sassy lady I’ve grown to know and love. Well done! I love recreating what’s caught my eye, such an exciting and creative process, but always for less, of course!
I have not been going overboard in love with the passion for pleats but your skirt is luring me and that’s a fact. It hangs beautifully and the colour is gorgeous, as are you, sassy sista.
Now, enough young lady, stop teasing me, show me your kitchen!!!!

Oh you always make me smile Lady Leoprint! Let’s talk about pleats first. I got sucked into the frenzy a few years ago and bought a pleated skirt. It looked awful on me but I kept trying and trying to get past that and fall in love with it. It never happened and it ended up in my donation pile. Goodbye and good riddance is what I uttered as I sent it off, swearing I would NEVER fall down that rabbit hole AGAIN. Except for we both know that I tweak the rules and buck the system so here I am two years later with another pleated skirt. I actually like this one so much more, I guess not all pleated skirts are created equally and it’s unfair to judge the whole lot based on one bad apple, er, pleat. And let’s call it like we see it, shall we? The moto jacket is what is luring you in – you are one badass Lady Leoprint in your moto jacket! So I say go for it!
Ahhhh, the kitchen. Yes, you will see some pictures in the next blogger collaboration that I thought was Monday but the date has been changed. I am still waiting on crown molding to be installed over two cabinets and drawers! No, not pants, the other kind of drawers, you know that you put things in like spoons, and forks. So yes, there are some holes but you my friend will see the big reveal soon!
      Give my love to TP!

Hmmnn, a member of the aristocracy should have Crown moulding on her drawers? Lady Leoprint doesn’t appear to have received Her Maj’s Royal Memo on this.
Will give your love to TP, he’s gallivanting with his Boston Bro right now. Yes, that’s why there is a paucity of G&T in Pout Manor! Note to self: find more reliable butler.
        Hugs, Lady Leoprint, x.

Just you wait and see what this yank does with her crown molding! You all are distracted by the royal engagement, don’t look away you never know what ole Mrs. R has up the sleeve of her cute-ugly Christmas sweater!
My guess is you are doing most of the serving if TP and his Boston Bro are catching up, don’t work too hard my friend!
