NYE Outfit and Final Collaboration

Here we are, the end of the year and the end of our Holiday Series Multi Blogger Collaboration!  I hope you all have enjoyed the series, I feel honored to have been included.  Many thanks to my friend, Ada of Elegance and Mommyhood.

Today we’re talking about what to wear for New Year’s Eve.  It may be hard to believe that 2017 is coming to a close and the start of 2018 is just days away but it’s true.  For years we’ve ushered in the new year at home or at the home of our friends.  We aren’t the type of people to get dressed up and head out to a fancy party so my outfit reflects that.  Truth be told we love being with our kids and when they were younger we never made it to midnight!  Now of course we do so I’m interested in wearing something comfortable!

I ordered this sweatshirt from Old Navy on Black Friday.  Don’t laugh but I don’t really own any sweatshirts! Isn’t that crazy?  When I saw this one I thought it was cute and the price was right!  I added a sparkly scarf I purchased years ago to dress it up just a bit.  Pairing it with my comfiest faux leather leggings (similar, plus size)assures me that while I’ll feel like I’m in my jammies I most certainly won’t look like it!  Slip on sneakers (similar, similar, similar)were a no brainer for a night of card games, yummy food, delicious drinks, 80s music and the best company!

Are you ready to see what everyone else is wearing? I can’t wait!

Ada: “New Year’s Eve is literally a few days away and I still have to finalize my plans, but no matter what I do I will settle for a girly+sexy silky camisole and a touch of leather and lace. I am loving this combination of burgundy with black – always a classic color pairing for Winter – and all the textures. Stop by the blog too, to see Vivian’s own coordinated, matchy outfit. Happy 2018 and let it shine!!”

Monica: “Y’all it’s almost 2018!  Are you excited, or is it just another year for you?  Regardless, Happy New Year!  I’m not one to make resolutions, but there are a few that I am making this year because I have a lot of stuff to do in the new year, so might as well set some resolutions with my life goals.”

Chrissy: “Our NYE celebration changes each year. We may be gaming and setting off fireworks, chilling with friends or even falling asleep (gasp) on our own comfy sofa. I can’t remember the last time I rang in the new year with dancing, so I’m a little rusty but ready to give it a go this year!!”

Linda: “I found this skirt last year at Target after the holidays and it has been waiting in my closet for the perfect occasion. The sweater was an H&M sale also last year after the holidays.  Two random pieces waiting for the special event.  This year we are celebrating in Atlanta and heading to the Peach Bowl, leaving the snow and cold behind.  Happy New Year and all the best to everyone’s families.”

Kristin: “We’re headed to Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, to celebrate New Year’s Eve this year and I’m so excited! Instead of a dress I’m going to be wearing this velvet bodysuit, skinny pants, and ‘Happy New Year’ headband. I can’t wait to see everyone’s looks!”

Shelbee: “I stay in every year for New Year’s Eve, but that doesn’t stop me from dressing up and celebrating the occasion.  This year I am giving the pajama/lingerie trend a try with this lacy burgundy and black dress layered under a black lace and velvet kimono.  Some fun patterned fish nets, patent leather booties in wine, and sparkly jewelry complete the look.  And if it really does look like pajamas, it doesn’t much matter since I am not leaving my house! I wish you all many blessings in the New Year! “

Kellyann: “We spend NYE with our closest friends.  We make lots of yummy food, play games, and listen to music.  We’ve been doing this for years and we always have a great time.  While I want to look festive I also want to be comfortable so I chose my new sweatshirt and comfiest faux leather leggings.  Happy New Year to everyone!”

Lee: “New Years – “We aren’t huge New Years Eve partiers. This year we will stay home and watch a movie like we do every year.  I am sharing a second way to style the leather front leggings.  Versatility is important to me when buying clothing.”

Christine: “I like to keep my NYE outfit simple and effortless. Hubby and I go out dancing so I want to be sure I’m comfortable all night! This faux-leather leggings and metallic top are perfect to ring in the New Year in style!”

I’m with you Kellyann! Most often we ring in the new year at home from the comfort of our living room sofa. That sweatshirt is perfectly suited and adorable. I like how you paired it with those fab faux leather leggings and those stylish fashion sneaks. Have a happy new year my beautiful friend!

Oh Chrissy, there is no place better than home surrounded by my boys! I am really starting to embrace the athleisure trend. In fact I was shopping with my oldest son today and he was telling me I had to “get with the times” and I laughed and said, “seriously? I AM the TIMES!” Ha! He walked away at that point, bwahahahaha! Oh boys!
I am wishing you and your family a very blessed new year and I am so happy to get to know you! God bless and keep you friend!

Kellyann, this cute sweatshirt is adorable for a NYE spent at home with family and friends. I was never one to go out on NYE either. When I was a teenager, just old enough to start going out, my father bribed me with massive amounts of seafood if I would stay home with him! It worked and became a tradition for my entire life. And now with little ones, it is more fun to stay home, make lots of delicious food, play games, and go to bed before midnight! In recent years, I have tried to watch the NYE countdowns, but I feel old when I don’t recognize any of the performing artists, nor do I like what they are performing. So I have given up on that! This collaboration was so much fun. And I have really enjoyed getting to you know throughout this past year. I look forward to what 2018 will bring for all of us. Happy New Year, my friend!

Thanks Shelbee! I agree, I have no idea who half the artists are anymore and my kids just laugh at me. We watch the ball drop and then go straight to bed. When the boys were younger we never made it that long and that was fine by me. Even when I was younger the thought of going out made me nervous – I really don’t like big crowds and every time I see the huge crowd in Time Square all I can think of is “what if I was there and had to go to the bathroom?” Crazy, but it makes me nervous!
I cannot believe we made it through the whole Holiday Series, it was fun and Ada is amazing to put it all together. I swear I tell her all the time she must require no sleep, bless her heart! I am looking forward to 2018 and continued relationships and fun blogging opportunities, it has been wonderful to get acquainted with you. I’m wishing you and your precious family all the best for a fun and blessed new year!

This outfit is perfect. I really love a cozy outfit! We are actually going out this year, to the Melting Pot! SO, we’ll probably be back home way before midnight and I usually never stay up! I always wake up at midnight though, because people are shooting off fireworks! I am more of a morning person than a night owl (altho, before kids, it was the opposite!). I’m excited to dress up a little!! I really love that sparkly scarf and I had to laugh at your sweatshirt comment, because I think I own ONE sweatshirt and it is embellished on top. I really need to get a couple more!! But, I do own a ton of flannel shirts, if that makes it betteR? lol! Happy almost NY!!!

I love the Melting Pot!!!! Yum! We have talked about going out to dinner but our kids would have a fit, we all play games and just enjoy all the appetizers. Last year we dressed up a little but this year I am firmly planted in the cozy category. I am hoping it cools off a little so I’m not roasting but who knows, the weather is crazy. I have a few flannels too, and this one sweatshirt, I almost bought another today but I passed. My mother has never worn a sweatshirt in her life – she’s always dressed up so that’s how I was raised. Lately I’ve been more interested in the athleisure style though so who knows, working from home may just turn me into the sweatshirt queen, lol!
Wishing you a wonderful 2018 Carrie!

Kelkyann, I’m not laughing. I don’t have a sweatshirt either. You’re new year eve lifestyle is mine. We are having one couple over and we will eat and drink and then they are getting a taxi before midnight! If they don’t they’ll turn into pumpkins and mice. Actually no they won’t be able to get a taxi until 2am and none of us are young enough for that.

I hope you have a happy new year.

Oh Anna, I am so glad to hear you’re not a sweatshirt connoisseur either! I never even owned sweatpants until I was in my late 20s! I cannot even imagine staying up until 2am, crazy right? I think we have the right idea staying in with good company and good food. I wish you all the best in 2018 – Happy New Year Anna!

Well cheers to you, my lovely. Your sweatshirt and skins look perfect you and perfect for your plans. My Nye plans are lower key and what I’m wearing won’t just feel like PJs, I’ll actually BE in my jammies before midnight. That’s fast-lane, OAP-style! Have fun on the night and thanks oodles for your sweet friendship during 2017. Hugs, x.

Well my friend, I say a night in your jammies sounds perfect! I am a homebody and love nothing more than a good night of cards and movies at home but we try to keep with our tradition each year. Thanks so much for the card – it was exciting to get international mail! Yours should be arriving soon – I hope – praying I didn’t screw something up on the address. You are so much fun to converse with, definitely a blogging highlight for me. Wishing you and TP the best in 2018!
      Love ya!
