Jump(suit) for Joy

Did you happen to see Monday’s eclipse?  I hope everyone wore their protective eye wear and suffered no permanent damage.  I was able to borrow a pair of authorized glasses at school and steal a glimpse.  Our school district was adamant that all outdoor activities get cancelled and that no one should be allowed outside.  That lead to about half of our student body staying home, I think all the hype at people scared to be out in the sun period.  It made for an easy day at work and I was thrilled our district didn’t cancel school because then we’d have to make up the day later when we really need a day off.  Having fewer kids at school meant I could spend more time chatting with the ones who were there.  Let me tell you, kids tell it like it is; they are brutally honest and they have pretty high expectations for me and how I look!  Especially our kindergarten students.  To be fair, they see a lot of me.  In the mornings I have duty on their hall, I have kindergarten lunch duty, and in the afternoon I have kindergarten car duty.  Besides their classroom teacher they see an awful lot of old Mrs. Rohr.

At lunch duty on Monday they asked me where my earrings were.  Until they asked I hadn’t realized I forgot to wear any!  Then they wanted to know why my nails weren’t painted. When  I told them I’m not real good about painting my nails I got an eye roll and was told, “all big girls paint their nails” and “Mrs. Rohr you HAVE to paint your nails and wear earrings by tomorrow”!  Bossy, right?

So in honor of my kindergarten friends, I’ll share the outfit I wore on Monday, the day of the eclipse.  I went for comfort first because in addition to the eclipse we had vision screenings for three grade levels and guess who runs that show?  Yup, you guessed it, this girl right here.  The jumpsuit I am wearing is one I’ve had for a few years and it’s from Old Navy.  I love the print and the fabric because it’s colorful and lightweight. I wear a lightweight jacket with it to work because it has thin straps and the top is too bare for school.  It washes like a dream and never needs ironing #keeper.

This jumpsuit in black is similar in style to mine. It would look great with this linen motorcycle jacket or this denim jacket. A pair of cute shoes, like my wedges and a fun necklace like this one or this one would finish this look off perfectly!

Do you have a jumpsuit that is so comfy and easy to wear you jump for joy? If not, give it a try. With some fun accessories you’ll feel as comfortable as if you were wearing pajamas but you’ll look fabulous!

  1. Sooooo CUTE!!! Oh how I love it with the jacket!! Nothing like a good jumpsuit! You look spectacular and SWEET as can be!!

    1. Thanks Andrea, I prefer the jacket with it. Thank goodness I kept this jacket -it’s so old – but it’s the perfect weight for the hot weather, it’s not too heavy and has held up well!
      I appreciate it sweet friend!

  2. Looking playful, fresh and approachable, Mrs R – perfect for the day you had planned.
We watched the eclipse live on UK telly but it doesn’t give you the eerie and magical “in the flesh” experience.
I’m test-driving my first jumpsuit in 30 years! I’m working on its toilet-friendliness. Just amateur testing, you understand, I won’t be taking it on and off 30,000 times like an Ikea armchair testing!!

    1. Haha Mary, you crack me up!!!I hope your jumpsuit passes the test, I am confident in your decision making abilities so if it makes the cut I’ll know it’s as good as any Ikea armchair!

  3. Kids are so funny. I know they can be super observant. My firecracker daughter always pays attention to those things and points them out to me: jewelry, accessories, when I change an outfit.

I have never asked you, what do you teach?!

This outfit is so youthful and cool. Love that jumpsuit. My most comfy one is also from Old Navy, in a light material, navy with white leaves, in a wrap style V-neck with short sleeves. Love that you chose a turquoise necklace, here.

    1. Yes, Ada, these little girls are probably just like your Vivian, so observant and into fashion. They notice everything!
I am not a classroom teacher, I’m the school counselor at our elementary school. I love it because I work with all of the kids!
I’m sure when Vivian starts school her teachers will get a kick out of the things she says and does. It’s so fun when we get to work with these little firecrackers, they make my job so much fun!

  4. Oh my goodness! I just read the kg comments to my friends and we are dying. Sounds like you better bring your “A game” from now on. I had the same pants as that jumpsuit but got rid of them in a great purge and now I’m wondering what was I thinking?😜 You look adorable. XOXO

    1. Aren’t they hysterical? I’m telling you, these kids are on it! This weekend I am headed to the nail salon for gel nails, I caved under the pressure, lol! And you can be sure I will NOT forget my earrings.
Thanks for your sweet words and I’ll bet you’re having a blast!

  5. I still haven’t gotten on the jumpsuit trend. I did have one when I was 13, does that count? You look great in this. We must be sisters separated along the way- I don’t paint my nails much either. I do paint my toenails, but they look pretty bad right now. And I’ve been leaving off earrings as of late. Hmm..

    1. Fonda, I can be your older sister for sure. I always paint my toes but they look ragged right now! I can’t keep nail polish on my fingers to save my life. I’ve tried every brand, every base coat, top coat, etc. and the polish literally peels off my nails in sheets! Unless of course I get gel nails at the salon and I am too lazy and cheap to do that regularly. Maybe someday when I don’t have to work full time or I become a full time blogger and how I look pays my bills my nails will be done, a girl can dream, right?
