Inspired by Mary

Today’s look is totally and unabashedly inspired by my sweet friend who lives “across the pond” Mary of The Pouting Pensioner .  I’ve given her the nickname of Lady Leoprint and sometimes I boss her around a bit by telling her what to wear.  It’s all in good fun and she handles it so well, we both enjoy the back and forth banter of two witty women.  No matter that we’re on different continents, we seem to enjoy quite a few of the same things.  Connecting this way makes the world seem a little smaller and a lot friendlier too.

Mary published a post titled Channelling Coco and I was so inspired by the outfits she created it got me thinking. Side note: usually when I say this my husband gets nervous because it usually means work for him but not this time! Anyhow, I recalled one of my favorite jackets that I hadn’t worn in awhile and the beginnings of a recreation were born. My darling friend piled on the strands of pearls she’s acquired over the years, so in true copy cat fashion I did too. All two of mine! Ha!

I wore another pair of flare jeans. These are darker and have a low rise. I wore my favorite double strap cami and wedge sandals to work.

Another interesting story that can be woven into this outfit is the fact that it can be worn for more than just work. Case in point on the day that I wore this I had an unexpected golf banquet to attend. Who attends unexpected golf banquets? Apparently I do along with my better half. Let me explain. Thursday morning I’m putting the ingredients for our dinner into the crockpot and chatting with my younger son, Collin. He sees me doing this and says, “oh yeah, I won’t be home for dinner.” I casually asked where he’d be and he says, “oh the golf banquet is tonight.” Say what? I’ll spare you the details but this is what happens when your children are in charge of conveying information to parents. The golf coach texted the information to the team. On October 21. Thanks Collin for sharing the information with your parents! #blesshisheart

Back to the outfit. Everything I’m wearing is old (what else is new), haha pun totally intended. The jacket is INC from Macy’s (back when practically all my clothes came from there) and my jeans are the brand 7 for All Mankind (similar)from TJ Maxx.

I wore my open toe booties (on sale!) to the golf banquet that almost wasn’t since it cooled off at night.  Speaking of the banquet, seems I’m in good company with the golf moms.  When we got to the country club the mom who greeted us had a glass of wine #speakingmylanguage and two other moms had no idea about the banquet until that night! We had a marvelous time and I am grateful my son has an awesome group of young men in his life! Here’s one last picture we snapped at the end of the banquet with our favorite golfer.
That’s a wrap for today, thanks to my friend Mary for the inspiration! I’ll see you all back here tomorrow for a Black Friday Linkup!
Make it a marvelous Monday friends!

Kellyann

Oh my! I feel so honoured. And surprised, had no idea you were cooking this up. Should have maybe got heads up from your IG pic, but I was so excited when I saw your pearls that all I saw was on your fabulous outfit and your lovely family shot.
So, hot flush of feeling flattered over, may I say Wow! Great to see the full shot of this outfit which is put together so beautifully. I adore the jacket and the its cheeky nod to Chanel, but done casually this way with jeans makes it so wearable for us mere mortals who don’t spend our days strutting the catwalk but instead lead normal lives, running a house, working … and attending golf galas! I so totally and absolutely love this outfit and you are looking sooo pretty, Mrs R.
Thank you hugely for the big shout!
    Hugs, x.

I’m so sneaky, right? Isn’t it funny? I’ve had this jacket forever and never wear it – Last Chance Salon material, eh? You inspired me and I love the way it turned out. And how about me with two strands of pearls? Here I had thought I had none but then I went searching and lo and behold found two! Woo hoo! I loved this outfit so much I couldn’t wait to share it and I believe in giving credit where credit is due! So, cheers to us Lady Leoprint!
      Keep the inspiration coming!

Thanks Micaa! Yes, it’s funny how blogging brings us all together and I usually don’t get dressed in the morning until I read my blogs. I find so much inspiration! Yes, I sure was thankful this outfit worked for everything I did that day!
I hope you have a wonderful week and the cold, wet weather warms up and the sun shines!

Thanks so much Andrea, I’m glad it’s not just me with the son who leaves out important information, lol. Honestly I don’t know how my son gets through life sometimes! I am looking forward to this week and I’m sure you would agree that I’m in no hurry for the weekend and saying goodbye once again to our boys who just got home!
Have fun at the football banquet!

Why teachers and coaches think they’ll pass the info along is beyond me!! Lol!!! Especially boys, my son always tells last minute, my daughters are just a bit better at remembering. Have a great day!

My son and daughter are opposites on this! My son tells me details on things at the last minute (especially big school projects he needs help on!!) and my daughter tells me asap. Ahh, kids. 🙂 I love this jacket with the ruffled edges and the strand of pearls looks great with it. I still need to look for some flare jeans, maybe I’ll find some on Black Friday!!

I guess by nature girls are planners, ha! Even when my boys were younger I’d find out important details from the girls they were friends with! Black Friday will be a great time to get some flare jeans – I’m sure there will be all kinds of deals. Can’t wait to see what you get!

Well you know I love that outfit and I also loved our sweet Mary’s post with the pearls. I need to get more pearls apparently. The only ones I have are circa 1980’s and look awful. I couldn’t help but chuckle about the whole golf banquet story. These coaches should get a clue that these kids (especially boys) aren’t exactly the best at conveying messages. I’m glad you found out about it and made it with the other mama’s. Happy Monday sweetest of sweets!

Oh girl, my pearls are super old too and fake of course, lol! I suppose by high school they think the kids are responsible enough to pass on important information but that is certainly not the case! Thank goodness we made it and that my outfit held up and still looked good by night, ha!
Now I am officially on vacation, woo hoo!!!

This post made me laugh out loud. I had no idea golf banquets existed! LOL But I love your outfit and its neutral color palette and that you are channeling one of your style blogger buddies. You know I love posts like this and collabs. That tan jacket is all kinds of great! Love it with the classic pearls!

I have been meaning to tell you dear Kellyann, but if I can make a suggestion, when you add your posts to the linkups, why don’t you link from your original blog: thisblondesshoppingbag.com — rather than your bloglovin account?! This way everyone gets to visit YOUR BLOG (your website) rather than Bloglovin. Also your sign up for e-mail window pops in every time I go to your Bloglovin address and I have tried from several devices, a lot of times it won’t let me get anywhere else on your page or will freeze off.

Thank you Ada! I am going to have to check into how to link from my original blog. And I wonder what’s going on with the email sign up thing. I am perplexed and technologically challenged as well. I so appreciate your feedback because I would never know these issues existed – thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
One of the things I want to do is get a new theme for the blog and update it so it looks more professional. It may be a gift from Santa!
