Happy Flag Day!

Time to break out the red, white, and blue! Now I know that in just a few short weeks you’ll really be wearing red, white, and blue for 4th of July but why not start today? After all our country has been through a little celebration of patriotism is just what we need. I thought it might be fun to share a simple patriotic look with you today featuring items most of us probably already own and adding just one new piece. The new piece for me is this $3 scarf I picked up at Target last week. I figured for $3 I couldn’t go wrong and it would be a tasteful way to add a few stars and stripes to my look!

Look #1 – start with red pants,  and this white tank (under $20) and this blue scarf with white stars! I’m wearing my Converse Sneakers because they are the perfect footwear when your theme is Americana in my opinion.  Just a little note about the scarf, it is an infinity scarf and I usually like to double loop those when I wear them but it’s too hot to do that now so I let it hang.

Look # 2 – Basically the same outfit with a few tweaks to make it more work appropriate. I’d add a jacket and switch out the shoes. Voila! Appropriate and fun without being ‘costumey’, ya know what I mean?

Look # 3 – If it’s hot, hot, hot outside keep cool with a skirt. Same white tank (under $20!) but this time with a fun skirt, my flag scarf, and my Converse Sneakers. I always wear no-show socks with mine!

A note about that under $20 tank , it goes in and out of stock ALL THE TIME so you need to check often. It also comes in gray. Seriously this is a great tank, the fabric is a little thicker, it doesn’t cling to the body and it keeps its shape. Get it.

And this last picture was too good not to share.  You know how I get nervous getting pictures taken, right?  Well, here’s what happens when you live in the same community you teach in – the neighborhood kids love to stop by and say hi!  There were at least 5 of them luckily we were on our last shot! Just keepin’ it real friends!

Dressing for patriotic holidays can be tricky. Not wanting too look silly or juvenile but still wanting to wear red, white, and blue can be achieved with a few simple pieces. My advice is to add just one “fun” piece like I did with the scarf. I have some other red, white, and blue goodness up my sleeve that I’ll share at a later date but for right now I thought this would be a fun way to kick things off for Flag Day. Why not do something to celebrate our beautiful flag as well as our amazing country that so many have fought and died for? It may not be perfect but there’s still no other place I’d rather call home than the good ole USA! That’s what’s in This Blonde’s Shopping Bag today, do you like to wear red, white, and blue?

  1. I love America and I love red, white and blue attire. In fact, I have an outfit coming up with my new Flag purse, should’ve posted it today. You look darling, as sweet as apple pie! Great, versatile scarf! I hope you have an amazing day you amazing lady!

    1. I cannot wait to see your flag purse, I bet it is awesome! Thanks so much sweet friend, I always love reading your comments!

    1. Thanks Blaire! If only I could have captured the sounds along with the photobombing!!! You’d really get a kick – from way down the blockyou can hear them yelling, “look it’s Mrs. Rohr!” I was dying because it was so funny!

  2. I love this look…so cute and casual, while making just the right statement! 🙂 I really like your red pants – are they jeans?

    1. Thanks Denise! No, they are actually red pants from Loft that I bought at Thanksgiving and wore for the holidays. I should have mentioned that in the post. I wish they were a little thinner because the fabric is too hot to wear in the Florida heat without some major AC!

    1. It’s kinda crazy living so close to my school and students, I can never go out of the house in a robe or anything because someone is ALWAYS there and the grocery store? Forget it, we always see at least 3 families from school. It’s wild for sure!

    1. Thanks Lana, going to Target is always a good idea, right? Yup, and going in to get a $3 scarf will probably lead you to spending mor elike $50 when you see all the cute stuff, right?! Ugh, I can NEVER get outta there with just a few things. Have a great day!
