Friday Favorites! It’s Good to Be Back!

It really is good to be back to the blog this week. I think most will agree that any semblance of normalcy is helpful during this time. That’s why I’ll continue to blog during this time as well or until I run out of things to say #notlikely.

Yes, his brother got him a card for a 3 year old, because, brothers!

Last Friday our youngest turned 20 and celebrating him was a favorite. While this birthday was nothing at all like the celebration we expected there was a silver lining. Just a few weeks ago I remember talking to my husband about what we were going to do about the birthday. He wouldn’t be able to come home because of his volleyball schedule and we had an out of town wedding that weekend. Little did we know none of this would be a concern for us and we’d have our sweet boy right where he belongs!

Last fall in Austin!
The Style Six sticks together to celebrate!

Speaking of birthdays, another of my favorite people celebrated a birthday yesterday! We met through blogging and now Andrea has become one of my closest friends – even if we live in different states proving that the internet can connect us in ways we never imagined! My Style Six sisters and I celebrated her with a virtual birthday party on Zoom!

Another favorite for me this week was appearing as a guest on the podcast High School Hamster Wheel! I was thrilled to get to share my thoughts and suggestions on distance learning for teens. I hope you’ll give it a listen, it was a lot of fun!

I’ve had little disruption to my working world lately but not being able to get to the gym for my early morning work outs was a major disruption to my daily routine. My gym has begun streaming live workouts and it’s absolutely been a favorite. I feel so much better after a good work out and these are designed to make you sweat. I am grateful to Riverside Fitness of Oviedo! You can see all the workouts on their YouTube Channel.

My final thoughts for today are for all of us to do our part and take care of ourselves. I find it helpful to focus on the positive – it could always be worse whether you believe it or not – and to practice as best as you can to squash the negativity that abounds. Just last year I thought my life had hit an all time low after the death of my beloved dad. Then my niece died and then my brother was diagnosed with another rare form of cancer. Nothing like a pandemic to put it all in perspective, right? So join me in trying as hard as you can to find some joy each day!

Of course since it’s Friday I am linking up with Narci, Andrea, and Erika for Friday Favorites!

And in case you missed it, you can check out my Monday post here and my Wednesday post here! I’ll be back on Monday friends!

XO,
Kellyann
