Friday Favorites #3

Well I don’t know about you but I think every week needs to be a 4 day week with Mondays off! Especially when football is on on Sunday night! I may have to drop Oprah a line and suggest that, ya know, just in case.

Anyhow, this week is a mixed bag of favorites for me. From those that tug at your heartstrings to one that is just plain wet-your-pants funny!

#1 Last week Lana from My New Happy shared a few books she’s been reading lately. She mentioned one of my very favorite authors, Amy Krouse Rosenthal. You may or may not be familiar with her work, I was because as a school counselor I used some of her books. But you may have heard of her because as she was dying from cancer she wrote a piece for the NY Times called You May Want to Marry My Husband. It was published last March and she is now deceased, but her work lives on. I purchased her book Dear Girl, to give as a gift to my niece. I swear if every girl had this book and read it every night I think it would do wonders for her self esteem. I’m sharing this because I think it would make a lovely gift for any girl! I hope you’ll check it out!

#2 My jumpsuit from Target seemed to be a favorite for many of you! I told you all the brilliant colors in it would make it easy to pair up with other layers. Here are a few pictures of other ways I’ve styled it. It’s so versatile it has me thinking it would be great to wear to work with a cropped, fitted jacket and then out for cocktails or dinner without the jacket!

Or until it warms up pair it with a denim jacket:

I love it with a colorful cardigan too!

#3 Time with our 20 year old! Today is his actual birthday but our younger son is having his wisdom teeth cut out today so we traveled to Gainesville on Sunday. We brought my parents with us to help celebrate. We traipsed around UF, checked out the apartment he and his roommates will live in next school year, shopped, and then went out to dinner. I love this boy of mine so much!

#4 Speaking of my boy…he has quite a sense of humor! So as I mentioned one of his roommates couldn’t join us on Sunday because he was working. No worries, Nolan “photoshopped” him into the picture (he’s the one in the blue shorts)! He couldn’t stop there though, he had to put his body on all of our heads! Listen, I would love to develop some better muscles in my arms but this is a bit ridiculous! Ha!

#5 This crazy weather is actually a favorite of mine. You won’t hear me complain when a cold front hits seemingly out of nowhere! This is how it was last weekend, Friday night we went out and it was so hot I wore SHORTS! Sunday it was freezing (by our standards anyway) at 50 degrees so we were bundled up in coats!

Is your weather that crazy too? I’m sure we’re not the only ones.
Here’s hoping you’re ready for a wonderful weekend filled with lots of ways to replenish your soul! We’ll be taking it easy since Collin will be recovering from oral surgery. I am looking forward to getting some things done around here!
I’d like to say thank you for stopping by today, it means so much to me!

Oh girl YOU KNOW IT – literally you do know it since you have a new 20 year old too! Crazy, crazy, crazy!
My sweet Collin looks like a chipmunk with his swollen cheeks! But I’ve got him covered with pudding and ice cream, so definitely a low key, stay around the house kind of weekend for us, just what we need actually.
I hope you have a weekend as sweet as you!

I am loving all the ways you’ve remixed that jumpsuit! It’s such a great piece and the colors are so fun! I need to check out that book, too. Thanks for the recommendation!

Thanks Jodie! All the colors in this jumpsuit really make it such a versatile piece, I do think I need more colorful jewelry though!

Our weather has been crazy cold. I don’t remember so many days in the single digits. I love bundling up for winter – but this is too much! Too funny – with the Photoshopping. And, cute jumpsuit. Have a great weekend.

My crazy son and that photoshopping, oh that boy! The weather is all over the place here and it really does get confusing when I’m looking in my closet. I swear my brain just starts warming to the idea of sweaters and layers and then I’m sweating to death and having to pull out shorts! If I had my way we’d move to a cooler climate but my husband wants no part of it after growing up in PA!

  7. January 19, 2018 / 1:36 pm

I love that jumpsuit and all the way you’ve found to wear it! Our weather has been fluctuating from 30 to negative 10 or so… not fun at all… and definitely not short weather. Though 30 did feel so warm compared to he other temps we’ve been having lately that I didn’t feel the need for a coat to go shopping the other day.

Thanks Joanne! Isn’t perspective funny? I’ll tell ya when you’re used to 90 degree weather you freeze at 60 and when you have single digit temps I’m sure 30 feels balmy! Ha! Gotta love the Winter!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Oh my gosh…that NOLAN!!! What a hoot! Okay, somehow I missed the jumpsuit post? I’m going back to find it as soon as I’m done yammering on here. It’s adorable and so versatile. You know, your weather really is crazy. Ours is kinda like a flat line. Not much variation. I can’t imagine shorts one day and coats the next. I don’t think I’d deal very well. #aversiontochange LOL. Is Collin having his wisdom teeth out? I’ve been through that personally when I was (25) and then with both kids in the past 4 years. Have fun babying your baby. Hope it all goes smoothly whatever it is. OH…I’m still looking to redo my blog so I was just looking at Pipdig again. Are you on WordPress? I’m thinking as long as I’m doing it, I may as well go all the way and get them to migrate me over from Blogger. I’ve heard there’s a little learning curve (and this old dog doesn’t learn new tricks very well) but I’m wondering if it’s a better platform??? Help me😬😜😘 Happy Friday beautiful friend! XO

Isn’t Nolan crazy?? I swear that boy is very entertaining. I hope you get to meet him someday. Girl I could tell you stories! Yes, Collin had his wisdom teeth out this morning, so far so good. Made pudding last night (cook and serve, what a pain btw but that’s because I bought the wrong stuff) and keeping him on pain meds and ice! I think the jumpsuit was from a Target post on Tuesday. I think anyway.
Yes, I am on WordPress. Never used Blogger but I have heard WP takes some getting used to. I’m still figuring things out myself but Pipdig is very helpful. If I had time I could make some magic happen here but I am just thankful I’m still standing after starting the new job. Which, btw, I LOVE!
Alright, have a good weekend! I’m exhausted and so ready to relax!

Haha! Your son def. was having fun with Photoshop! Lol!! Too funny. I just read the You May Want to Marry My Husband article, oh my gosh… Tears are streaming down my cheeks! So touching. Wow, and 51. Cancer really sucks. I’ll have to look into her book for my daughter. 🙂 I can’t even imagine wearing shorts right now, but it did warm up finally here in St. Louis! We’re going to enjoy high 50’s all week!!!!

I know what you mean about that article. Seriously? What an amazing woman. Check into that book, your daughter is the perfect age for it! My niece is almost 2 so I’m hoping my sister will read it to her now and keep it for her to read herself later.
We are having high 70’s this week. Guess everyone is warming up a bit until the next freeze! Life is crazy here in Florida, if you were here now you’d see people at the beach in swimsuits! It’s not warm enough for me to do that but lots of snowbirds think it’s balmy beach weather, lol!
      Enjoy the weekend my friend!

  10. January 20, 2018 / 2:05 pm

That jumpsuit is every bit of fabulous! Totally digging all of the colors and the versatility.

LOL at your son and his photoshopping skills. I have a childhood doll that everyone hates {they swear she looks like Chucky}, so every blue moon, I’ll photoshop her into family photos and send them to my mom and my sister.

I’m so over the cold and then hot. I’m a big sweater weather person, but the freezing temps have me all grumbly. LOL

Anyway, I enjoyed this post. It’s always fun to see a different side of people. Enjoy your weekend.

Thanks Daenel! I’m glad you enjoyed it, it is fun to share personal stuff rather than fashion all the time. It’s funny how much the blog has become a journal of sorts!
I’m laughing about your Chucky look alike doll! Ha!!!
Because it’s always so dang hot here I look forward to the cooler temps but the major mood swings of our weather are ridiculous. I prefer we ease into it a bit like the days getting cooler and cooler and then a freeze but no one in charge asked me! So one day it’s sweaters and layers and the next it’s shorts. So much for hiding any Winter weight, lol!
      Hope you’re enjoying the weekend!

What a sweet post Kellyann! First off, how sweet and fun is a visit to your boy’s stomping grounds WITH the grandparents. I love it. And you’re right, he is funny. I laughed at those photoshopped pics. Finally, that jumpsuit is fabulous and I liked every way that you styled it! Great post by a wonderful, beautiful woman! 🙂
