Okay y’all, I mentioned my sweet purchases from our Nashville trip and today’s the day to share them with you! If you are familiar at all with Reese Witherspoon you probably would describe her style as modest yet stylish, right? That’s the vibe of Draper James. Her clothing is beautiful, well made, and the styles are classic – totally timeless.
I fell in love with these two – and have my eye on a few more! Right now you can shop Draper James’ Warehouse sale and get an extra 40% off sale styles! Shop here.
There’s nothing like a good dress to help you feel your best. It’s simple styling at it’s best – literally one and done! When you invest in a few good ones, a dress can take you anywhere confidently. Regardless of your age I hope that is how you feel when you are dressed and ready to leave the house (or get on a zoom call!).
A classic utility is always a good option and this beauty is so cheery in this blue poppy print. I had to add my faux pearls and old Kate Spade handbag because these two just looked like they were meant to be together!
I typically shy away from anything that ties at the waist because I don’t have one (a waist that is!). I’m pretty rectangular but I loved the way I felt in this dress and the tie doesn’t bother me at all. A belt could be added in place of the tie to give a little more structure and cinching but I’m fine with it as is!
Then there’s this chambray shift dress with the prettiest bell sleeves. I love the ruffles at the neckline too. Such a nice way to add a little extra to a classic design.
The length is modest – not too long and not too short. I can easily sit and cross my legs – which is key when you are trying to dress confidently. I can recall many times, when I was younger, feeling self conscious about the length of a skirt and feeling like I had to keep adjusting it or pulling it down to avoid overexposure. The mature woman in me knows better!
With both dresses I wore my Sara Flint Perfect Sandals. Listen, these are an investment, they are pricey. But you know what? My feet are worth it. If you use my code: SARAHFLINT-BAKELLYANN50 for $50 off your first pair!
Here’s the thing I hope you know – I am 52 years old and happily own that age. Make no mistake – I embrace this age and do not wish to look like or return to my twenties. I’m fine to let the twenty somethings, thirty somethings, and forty somethings live their lives and enjoy while I enjoy this decade. When I’m shopping, I’m looking for clothes that reflect that attitude, how about you?
