CTC Week 2

If participating in this challenge has taught me anything it’s that I’m not really a challenge kind of girl! I have decided to follow through however with a few adjustments.  Namely I’m not doing it on the weekends!  Mostly because we are in the middle of renovating our kitchen and our house looks like a war zone and since we’re doing some of the grunt work ourselves I’ve been wearing shorts and tank tops.  I’ve also realized I should have chosen a pair of jeans or a basic tee as part of my five pieces.  Although at the time that seemed so easy and not like much of a challenge.  Oh well, lesson learned!

So take a look at what I’ve been wearing this week. I’ve been posting selfies every morning before work on Instagram so if you’d like to see exactly what I’m wearing follow me there. It is also worth mentioning that it is super hot here – on Monday with the heat index factored in it felt like 100 degrees! I really should have worn a big, flowy dress to keep cool – the humidity is brutal.  Dear Mother Nature, please send cooler weather soon.  I am melting.

Monday – Olive and blush.  These pants (similar)have been so versatile.  They’re fab with sneakers, sandals, and heels.  Today I dressed them up a bit with this old blush blouse.  I LOVE olive and blush together! My favorite part of this outfit is my new necklace from Baublebar. I love it! You’ll be seeing lots of it!

Tuesday – I wore the outfit I featured on Monday but I changed the shoes.  I decided to dress up a little because I had an audit.  Why does a school counselor get audited?  Because she is also the Section 504 coordinator.  If you ask the kids they’ll tell you I’m the lunchroom lady. Despite trying to educate them on what my job really is.  But I digress. Back to what I have worn so far this week.

Wednesday – Today is College Spirit Day at our school. Typically I wear jeans and a college tee but staying true to the challenge I chose a dress in UF colors. I am wearing my utility vest (similar) .You’ve seen that picture before in a previous post. I usually try to have my husband take my picture a few days before but we simply ran out of time. Monday night I had him photograph me in the olive pants and blush blouse after wearing them all day. Let me tell you it had been a looooooong, hot day. Surprisingly the outfit photographed well even after a full day at work. I had been in those clothes 11 hours at the time they were photographed. So apparently they wear well!

I’m off to go clean cabinets – part of our kitchen reno – my husband is painting our cabinets. I’ve cleaned them once with denatured alcohol, then he sanded them and now I’m back on duty washing out the insides and going over them once again with the denatured alcohol. The house looks crazy and I’m right there with it; I can’t stand messes! Enough of that, I’ll share some updates on Friday.

Thanks so much for stopping by – I appreciate it so very much!

Oh yes, the clutter has me ready to hyperventilate. I don’t know what I was thinking although it is necessary. We built this house 21 years ago and we have the original dark green formica countertops we picked out! It’s embarrassing! We put it off way too long. It is forcing me to purge a lot of garbage we’ve collected over the years so I guess that’s a plus!
Hope you’re having a great week Blaire!

I am terrible at sticking to any kind of style challenge so if you’re keeping it up 5 days a week I’d say you pass with flying colors. I’m especially loving that blush and olive combo! So pretty!

Thanks Gina! Yeah, I’m gonna say 5 out of 7 days is just fine with me! I’m learning a lot about myself by doing this so I can’t say I see too many of these in my future – ha!

Great looks Kellyann! I absolutely love that dress. 🙂 Thanks for sharing the ‘Challenge’ on your blog – I’m enjoying it! But, the weekends ARE difficult…as is trying to look Fall appropriate in the hot weather. Ha! Enjoy your day!

Thanks Denise! I swear I wish this weather would break already I’ve had enough! Guess it’s a sign that I shouldn’t invest in too many sweaters or jackets for the Winter – we probably won’t have one, ha! Glad you’re enjoying the Challenge, it’s way more challenging than I thought it would be. Hope you are having a wonderful week my friend!

That dress looks too cute with the vest! I’m not good at challenges either girl. And bless it on the house reno….I feel your pain there 100%! I’m really hopeful I will have mine done by Christmas and can just relax and enjoy it all! My new motto is definitely less is more….cause I found stuff in the cabinets I haven’t used in years.

Oh, I hear ya, less is more for sure! Our cabinets are so high we can’t reach them without a stepladder. We end up putting things up there we hardly use, so why even have them? It’s crazy. I’m hoping this is all wrapped up soon. I’m getting tired of washing dishes in the utility sink in the garage! Hahahaha, glamorous life I live, huh?

I really want to get our kitchen remodeled later this year, but I know it is going to be a HUGE mess! Lol! It’ll be so worth it tho. I hate when I don’t have a chance to have an outfit photographed right away! I can’t tell that you wore that first outfit 11 hours tho, it still looks great!! I did a 30×30 challenge a couple of times and I am not sure if I’ll ever do a challenge again. It is a lot of work (mainly the photos!). I love all 3 of these outfits, I can’t pick a favorite!

Oh, this kitchen remodel will be the death of me, lol! I’m getting used to washing dishes in the garage utility sink! I was so happy that the olive and blush outfit photographed so well at the end of the day. That blouse is the bomb! It washes like a champ and never needs ironing. I don’t like ironing and I don’t like dry clean only – I’m a wash and wear kinda gal! I’m glad you like all 3 outfits, it’s hard for me to be excited about these clothes because I’m kinda tired of them already, haha!

Your life always sounds so full-on. And I’m starting to re-think whether I do really want summer all year round … with that humidity? ?
Some lovely outfits there, Mrs R, the pink and olive and THAT dress being my faves. Now, what is it that Rachel’s mum says? Oh yes, once an adjuster, always an adjuster ?!

My dear Mary, you DEFINITELY do not want Summer all year long. Trust me, I am the poster child for the Just Say No campaign. Unless of course your Summer is minus the humidity. In that case I am the poster child for the Just Say Yes campaign. How’s that for being an adjuster? I’ll bet Rachel’s mum would give me high marks! Hahahaha!
I think the pink and olive is my favorite from last week. Just about three hours before those pictures were taken I was doing my daily car duty and it was so hot when I came back into school the entire back of my blouse was drenched! I kid you not, my co-workers commented on it. So when I look at the pics I chuckle because you’d never know I was dripping wet just hours before!
      Hugs my dear friend!

Thanks so much Whitney! I’m trying my best but I sure have learned a lot from this challenge. If I do one again I’ll choose pieces that are a little more basic. It is nice to see that you really can build a wardrobe around a few pieces and it’s not necessary to have so many items. It’s been a really good experience for me!
