Christmas Ready and Velvet Favorites

Coming to you today because I’m participating in another The Blended Blog Asks. This time it’s a fun Holiday Themed Q & A.

So let the fun begin!
1. We have a fake tree, it’s 21 years old!Β  You’ll see pictures on Thursday for the Holiday Home Tour!
2. My favorite Christmas Cooke is a the spritz cookie – just a yummy, buttery, delicious cookie! Mmmmmmmm!
3. We are always at home on Christmas morning, in fact we host Christmas lunch.
4. For the last few years we have had colored lights on our tree.
5. I send Christmas cards – missed only one year but I’ve already ordered and received this year’s!
6. I don’t have a favorite present, I love them all!
7. I am drawing a complete blank on this one.
8. Our stockings have been hung by the chimney with care in hopes that Saint Nicholas soon will be here!
9. I finally bought myself some Christmas pj’s last year!
10. My favorite Christmas Carol is Silent Night, I love going to church on Christmas Eve and singing that at the end of the service with our candles all lit!
11. My favorite holiday tradition is having dinner with our framily, the Mihailoffs, followed by making gingerbread houses and then going to look at lights. We’ve been doing this for years!
12. Early shopper for sure, thanks to my online shopping habit!
13. My very favorite Christmas movie is Elf, we watch it every year with the boys. It still makes me laugh and I just feel happy when I see it!
14. Hmmmm…favorite holiday beverage? I usually buy a flavored coffee creamer, like chocolate mint or something along those lines and drink the heck out of it. It’s a huge splurge for me! I’m not a hot cocoa drinker either. You know what I am though? A wine drinker, a sangria drinker, a moscow mule drinker, you see where this is going right?
15. Now that the boys are 17 & 19 we no longer leave cookies out for Santa.

Check out my favorite holiday pajamas:

Thanks Whitney. I think it’s great to have everyone over, especially when your kids are little – who wants to open presents and then head off somewhere? Not me!

Well I love your answers friend. One of my favorite traditions is our seafood dinner (spiced shrimp and crab dip) on Christmas Eve with my family. Love that and can’t wait for this years. I just tried on a pair of velvet pants at Loft yesterday and have a velvet cami ordered that should be here in the next few days. Hope you had a wonderful weekend! Can’t wait for your home tour and the reveal of your reno. Eeeekkkk!!! XOXO

Ugh, I’m nervous about the home tour, this place is no show house! Ha! And the kitchen isn’t quite done. I am planning on doing a post dedicated to the reno which I thought would be way over by now.
We had a pretty low key weekend, I worked for hours on blog stuff. Had to install a plug in to do the picture gallery. Before that I kept trying different things and googling everything, so crazy! I swear sometimes I feel like I’m spinning my wheels! Oh well,I so appreciate your comments and love connecting with you friend!

  3. December 4, 2017 / 1:45 pm

Yes to the new velvet trend, although not sure if I can’t pull it off? I just watched Elf for the first time last night. I had no idea it was so many people’s favorite movie!

Silly, beautiful girl, of course you can pull off the velvet trend! I think you would look stunning in velvet – your gorgeous, shiny hair and pretty skin tone – yup, I can see it now – stunner!

Loved hearing about your Christmases, though no. 14 strangely was no surprise 🍸🍷🍺🍼.
Saw Daddy’s Home 2 with TP last week. Loved it, TP was LOLing! The best film to see this Christmas…Fact. Must hunt down No. 1.
BTW, I passed TP your love … his response, “When are we going to Florida?”
Just three sleeps to your tour post … #offrichterscaleexcited. Hugs, x.

Sweet Mary, you have now convinced me that we must go see Daddy’s Home 2 once Nolan gets home next week. I thought it looked funny – I love Will Ferrell! I could certainly use a good laugh!
The pressure is building about Thursday’s post and I’m getting scared!!! That post may be the death of me, getting good pictures is hard, I hope it’s not anticlimactic for you.
You and TP have to come to Florida and then you can go to Boston and see TP’s brother! That would be so much fun. I think we’d laugh so hard we’d lose bladder control – ha!
I hope you are staying warm and having a wonderful week my friend!
      Hugs to you and TP!

Don’t fret about Thursday’s post. Please. Maybe I’ve piled on the pressure because I’m so excited about it (yes, I lead a quiet life), sorry. Blogging is pure pleasure, you’re brilliant at it and we will all love what you put together. This isn’t an exam, there are no grades, it’s whatever like want it to be on the day.

Aren’t you so sweet! Thanks for the motivation but I’m still a bit anxious. I’m still trying to snap pictures that are decent! Oh well, Thursday is the big reveal so it’s sink or swim time. Hmmm that wasn’t a very good analogy because I’m not a very good swimmer. I’m sure Thursday will be just fine. Just fine. Just fine. I’ll keep telling myself like Dori from Finding Nemo, keep swimming, keep swimming. Oh no! There I go again with the swimming references. I need to stop. Now. Ha!
Ok my sweet friend, I’m excited to share my pictures with you, I really am!
I hope you have a wonderful day!

Spritz cookies are so yummy! And yes to Elf – it always makes me happy, no matter what. I bought the velvet tshirt from Old Navy and need to figure out how to style it! P.S. Love the new blog design!

Thanks so much Lana! I rarely watch movies a second time but Elf is one I’ve seen so often and I never get tired of it. I can’t wait to see how you style your velvet tshirt, what color did you get? I think it’s perfect for the holidays!
Glad you like the new design, I am so pleased with it!

I loved reading this and finding out more about you and how you do Christmas! I tend to be an early shopper too, but there are always some last minute things I find myself running around to do. And I definitely leave wrapping to the last minute. I hate wrapping gifts!

Thanks Laura, glad you liked it. I love the shopping part but the wrapping is another story – ha! I have started wrapping as I go so I can put gifts under the tree rather than trying to keep them all stored in my room. We have very little storage space. When the boys were little I could never have done that.

  7. December 5, 2017 / 7:08 pm

Your Christmas tree must have a lot of meaning to be that old! With all of the pre-lit trees these days, that will be hard to do! We had one of our pre-list trees go out already and had to get a new one. Your framily tradition sounds really enjoyable! I love doing stockings, too!

Well Carrie, you can look at it one of two ways: either our Christmas tree has a lot of meaning or we’re too cheap to invest in a new one, lol! We have super high ceilings so trees to fit our space are very expensive. The tree itself is rather sad but once it’s decorated I think it’s beautiful! Make sure you check out my post on Thursday, it’s the holiday home tour!
