Hi Friends!
Our family left yesterday for a 7 day Western Caribbean cruise! I will be taking this week off from posting and commenting but I’ll be back next Monday, July 3. While I’m away I’ll be taking lots of pictures and I’ll be ready to share all the details with you when I return.

Have a wonderful week!

One Top Two Ways

I used to have a problem. I would buy an outfit and wear it the same way. Each and every single time. Yep, if I bought a blouse and pants together that’s how I wore it. I rarely mixed pieces. In my mind I categorized things and that’s how they stayed. Not that it’s a crime, and there are no self help books on the subject that I’m aware of. The problem is that you’ll end up with a very limited wardrobe and things might get, dare I say, boring? Let’s change that starting today, okay? Because today I’m sharing a top I recently purchased and I’ll show you two ways I plant to wear it. One for play and one for work!

I fell in love with this peplum tank and immediately started scheming ways to style it. Since I’ve changed my previous bad habits (mentioned above) I try to think of things I already own to pair something with before I invite it into my closet. In this case I knew I owned at least a few things but I also wanted to add a pair of pink shorts and so I bought these scalloped darlings in light pink. The old me would have categorized these two pieces as an outfit that should be worn together at all times but that’s not the case anymore!

So here’s the outfit as purchased. This peplum tank is terrific, not just because of the vibrant colors and print but also because of the fabric. It’s a linen blend so it won’t fade or pill as some cotton tops do. The scalloped shorts are great too. If you don’t own anything from J. Crew or J. Crew Factory you’re missing out, their pieces are classic and well made. They have frequent sales as well so NEVER pay full price!

Get ready for some crazy hair pictures.  The wind was blowing and it was hotter than hot when we took these.  With our afternoon and evening rain taking pictures for the blog has become super tricky so we’re taking them whenever we can.

I almost bought green shorts to go with this top but then I rememberedmy green pants (similar) and I knew they’d be perfect. The end result is an outfit that would be perfect for work, church, shopping, just about anything! I could easily add a jacket or cardigan to cover my arms. I am wearing my super comfortable Vionics . I cannot say enough about these shoes and how comfortable they are; if you have any kind of foot pain you should give these a try. They have a cushioned metatarsal pad which is why they are so good on my feet but they also keep your foot and ankle in proper alignment so they’re good for other issues too (plantar fasciitis anyone?).

Maybe you own a colorful top but you’ve been wearing it with the same old bottoms, why not shake things up and try something new? Buy pieces that offer possibilities and you’ll easily expand your wardrobe. One top two ways is what’s in This Blonde’s Shopping Bag today, what’s in yours?

Summer Dress

Happy first day of Summer!
Maybe you live in a place like I do where it’s felt like Summer for some time now or maybe you live in a place that’s still on the cool-ish side, no matter, you probably still want a great dress for the season. Although I wasn’t really looking I found one! Now here’s the deal with mine, it was thrifted. Yup. I did a little closet clean and brought some things to Style Encore and while they were going through my clothes I was going through their racks to kill time. Then I found it!

This dress is from H&M and I’ll tell you it’s perfection. It’s lightweight, gauzy material is perfect for hot weather and it’s so flowy! Oh and did I mention it was $9? Yes! I wore it for Father’s Day when we went out to lunch with my mom and dad. It was perfect for lunch and then some shopping. Now since mine isn’t available any longer this one is similar. At H&M this one , this one, this one, this one, and this one would work too.

We didn’t carry our camera with us so my husband snapped a few with his Iphone, which was a good thing because by the time we got home it was dark and rainy. That’s Florida in the Summer, bright and sunny one minute and then rainy the next!

I was able to wear my latest addition to my growing collection of Vionics so I was literally comfortable from head to toe! Once again I’m wearing my go to Kendra Scott necklace and my leopard cuff from Accessory Concierge. I chose to carry my new (similar) straw tote from Express. I purchased my tote during the Memorial Day sale at Express; it was 40% off and I had a $20 rewards card so I ended up paying $17 (including tax) for this awesome bag! Honestly if I had one tip to give you about shopping I’d have say it would be to get a store credit card for the stores you shop frequently. I NEVER carry a balance on ANY credit card but you are often given extra discounts and rewards during your birthday month. Just be careful and make sure you pay your credit card off every month!

Have you found the perfect Summer dress yet? What are your criteria? Feeling cool, comfortable, and stylish in a breezy Summer dress – that’s what’s in This Blonde’s Shopping Bag today!

Kimono on Over

Kimono on over and see what I’ve styled today! Hahahahahaha!! See what I did there? I could have said, “Come on Over” but I got crafty. Hope you got it, I’m cracking myself up over here.  Seriously in this picture I was telling my husband how I was titling this post and we both cracked up, well actually I laughed and he told the dog, “Oh Sophie mommy’s getting funny.” But Sophie thinks I’m awesome and I know she was cracking up. Oh well, we’re easily amused.

Last week I showed my kimono and hinted at other ways it could be styled. So I feel like I warned you that this might happen and here it is! I enjoy wearing kimonos with denim, shorts, and sometimes even skirts or dresses. The possibilities are limitless you just have to do what you like and what you’re comfortable in. But a kimono can be a great transition piece between seasons and in some cases can add just the right amount of coverage if you’re feeling too exposed.

Take a look at the ways I’ve styled my kimonos:

2017-06-16 001
2017-06-16 008
2017-06-16 017
2017-06-16 012

Since I talked about the latest addition to my kimono collection here today I’ll share details about the other looks with you. Before we get into it though let me share that a kimono is a Japanese traditional garment. The word “kimono” actually means a “thing to wear” according to Wikipedia. Some people actually refer to this type of garment as a poncho too but I always think of a poncho as being something that goes over the head and has no arm holes. Whatever you call it, it’s a fun piece to style!

This first look is probably my favorite because of the Boho vibe. I purchased this kimono at the end of last Summer from American Eagle. It’s perfect with denim cut offs, a swingy camisole, espadrille wedges ,a hat, and some fun accessories. I linked similar espadrille wedges from Macy’s because mine are sold out. Although I had a reader (Hi Mandy!) share with me that she found mine at the Gap Outlet for $20! What a deal, I LOVE mine!

The next look is one I’ve worn to work. Keep in mind I work in an elementary school so my dress code may be more relaxed. This kimono is a few years old and I purchased it online from Forever 21. It pairs perfectly with these blue shorts from Kohl’s – they’re a few years old as well but I love the color. I kept the same camisole and shoes but I’m wearing a colorful tassel necklace.

I purchased this Kimono earlier this month from Marshall’s. It still has the tags on it, I paid a whopping $14.99 for it. I paired it with this dress. You may remember I’ve mentioned before that I own it in pink and blue, it is a terrific value at under $50. I am wearing my fancy Vionics.  Haha! I’ll probably wear this on the cruise we’re taking very soon (I need to pack, ugh). While the dress is fine alone the kimono will keep me from freezing in the air conditioning.

My last look features a very old kimono – about three years old and my even older distressed denim from Loft.  I love the fringe on this one but it gets tangled in the wash.  It’s from Forever 21 too.  I am wearing one of my favorite necklaces from Baublebar.

You may have noticed in almost every picture of me I am wearing pretty much the same jewelry. I LOVE finding new and fun pieces but I seem to gravitate towards the same pieces in my collection over and over again. Most are from Accessory Concierge like my leopard cuff and tassel necklace. I wear my Kendra Scott necklace several times a week because it works with EVERYTHING! It’s such a good piece to own, I’d really like one in hot pink!

So, how do you feel about kimonos now? Are you ready to add one to your closet or if you own one already are you thinking of styling it differently? I hope so because that’s what’s in This Blonde’s Shopping Bag today!

I look forward to seeing you back here on Wednesday friends!

Fabulous Friday Link Up!

Fridays always tend to be fabulous, right? Well this Friday is particularly fabulous for me because I get the honor of co-hosting the Fabulous Friday with Jennie from A Pocketful of Polka Dots.  I hope you’ll link up, just go to the bottom and add your links!

For my Fabulous Friday outfit I chose a kimono and white denim ensemble.  Summertime is hot and humid and thank goodness for air conditioning!  So while I love wearing a cool cami I find it necessary to wear a light layer for when I’m indoors.  Enter the kimono – one of my absolute favorite pieces!  I have several and I am always on the hunt for another.  Not only is a kimono functional but it adds visual interest as well.  There are so many gorgeous kimonos on the market in every price range.  The one I am wearing is from the clearance section at Target.  I paid a whopping $8 for this beauty which I’m sure will be worn dozens of times bringing it’s cost per wear to mere pennies.  I kept the rest of the outfit simple with my favorite camisole (similar), white jeans (similar), a tassel necklace, and my espadrille wedges from Gap. I love this outfit!

A couple of things about this outfit worth noting. First of all it is my jam, and I mean it. Give me an easy, non-clingy camisole and a kimono and I am one happy girl. I love the boho vibe and just how comfortable this whole ensemble is, right down to my shoes. Secondly, you probably noticed the white in the camisole is more creamy than true white yet my jeans are true white, so what? It’s all good, don’t sweat the small stuff. The jeans are old and I ALWAYS cuff them, since raw hem is so big right now I decided to DIY mine and they turned out pretty good. I may cut just a bit more off. Our weather has been so bad I was just so thrilled to get out and snap these pictures. The sky was getting dark as my son was snapping away.

If you’re unsure about a kimono don’t be. They are so versatile and fun! I can’t wait to wear this one with shorts and even a maxi dress! Now there’s an idea for a future post, won’t you kimono on over and see all the different ways to style one? LOL

That’s what’s in This Blonde’s Shopping Bag today, what’s in yours?

Happy Flag Day!

Time to break out the red, white, and blue! Now I know that in just a few short weeks you’ll really be wearing red, white, and blue for 4th of July but why not start today? After all our country has been through a little celebration of patriotism is just what we need. I thought it might be fun to share a simple patriotic look with you today featuring items most of us probably already own and adding just one new piece. The new piece for me is this $3 scarf I picked up at Target last week. I figured for $3 I couldn’t go wrong and it would be a tasteful way to add a few stars and stripes to my look!

Look #1 – start with red pants,  and this white tank (under $20) and this blue scarf with white stars! I’m wearing my Converse Sneakers because they are the perfect footwear when your theme is Americana in my opinion.  Just a little note about the scarf, it is an infinity scarf and I usually like to double loop those when I wear them but it’s too hot to do that now so I let it hang.

Look # 2 – Basically the same outfit with a few tweaks to make it more work appropriate. I’d add a jacket and switch out the shoes. Voila! Appropriate and fun without being ‘costumey’, ya know what I mean?

Look # 3 – If it’s hot, hot, hot outside keep cool with a skirt. Same white tank (under $20!) but this time with a fun skirt, my flag scarf, and my Converse Sneakers. I always wear no-show socks with mine!

A note about that under $20 tank , it goes in and out of stock ALL THE TIME so you need to check often. It also comes in gray. Seriously this is a great tank, the fabric is a little thicker, it doesn’t cling to the body and it keeps its shape. Get it.

And this last picture was too good not to share.  You know how I get nervous getting pictures taken, right?  Well, here’s what happens when you live in the same community you teach in – the neighborhood kids love to stop by and say hi!  There were at least 5 of them luckily we were on our last shot! Just keepin’ it real friends!

Dressing for patriotic holidays can be tricky. Not wanting too look silly or juvenile but still wanting to wear red, white, and blue can be achieved with a few simple pieces. My advice is to add just one “fun” piece like I did with the scarf. I have some other red, white, and blue goodness up my sleeve that I’ll share at a later date but for right now I thought this would be a fun way to kick things off for Flag Day. Why not do something to celebrate our beautiful flag as well as our amazing country that so many have fought and died for? It may not be perfect but there’s still no other place I’d rather call home than the good ole USA! That’s what’s in This Blonde’s Shopping Bag today, do you like to wear red, white, and blue?

xoxo,
Kellyann

Concert Style

Before going any further I have to take a minute and acknowledge the one year anniversary of the Pulse Nightclub Massacre that occurred in my beloved Orlando one year ago today.  The pain is still so very raw and palpable in our beautiful city.  I hope you’ll take a moment to send up a prayer for those who are still grieving, 49 beautiful souls were lost in the early morning hours of June 12 and the survivors are still trying to heal.  Please, in honor of those victims, perform an act of kindness today.  Thank you.

It seems weird and I’m not even sure how to transition from something so tragic to something seemingly so superficial as fashion.  Ugh, here goes…

Friday night we did something we don’t often do.  We went to a concert! Ha!  Here’s the deal, my husband goes to concerts at least a few times a year but me?  Not so much.  I don’t love the crowds and I hate spending the money on the tickets.  In my mind a concert ticket equates to a new outfit.  So when my good friend asked if we wanted to join her and her husband for the Hall & Oates Concert no one was more surprised than me (and my husband) when I immediately said yes.  I mean who am I? Am I a huge Hall & Oates fan? No, not really but I do like their music.  Tears for Fears was opening for them and I like their music too, so really it was a win-win situation.  But I enjoy spending time with my friend and I am trying to open myself to experiences.  Anyway, when Friday rolled around I was so excited!

Shortly after getting the tickets my attention turned to what to wear.  It’s hot and steamy in Orlando but the concert was indoors.  I knew we’d also be walking quite a distance because the Amway Arena is huge and parking would be an issue.  So no heels for me and that rules out about half of my “going out” wardrobe.  My “night out”wardrobe requires heels!

I know I’ve mentioned my cold shoulder black top before here when I wore it with these gingham shorts. The reason I bought this top in the first place is because I was thinking of the concert. Now back in the day (when I was younger and thinnner, lol) I would have worn skinny jeans and sky high heels but alas I’m about a week into my 49th year, I weigh about 5 pounds more than I’d prefer, and I have foot issues. So, this is how a former 80’s hottie dresses for a concert, lol!:

These days I am all about being comfortable and still trying to be stylish. I want to look at a picture of myself or look in the mirror and see myself – not a version of me who’s not true to who I am, I hope that makes sense. I feel like this outfit achieves that, my top is one of my favorites, I’m wearing my go to Kendra Scott Rayne necklace, my favorite cuff from Accessory Concierge, and a new pair of Vionics. I bought this pair for less than half the price of my other pair! I’m also carrying an old crossbody Dooney & Bourke bag. All I really need is my license, a credit card, my phone (for pictures, lol) and lipstick. I’m carrying my license in hopes that I get carded. Yeah, right but a girl can dream!

As I write this it’s Sunday night and the concert was Friday.  We had a blast!  It’s so funny how music can take you back in time.  I swear as I was listening to Tears for Fears (who was amazing btw) it was 1985 all over again and I was back in high school. Music is so very powerful.  You know what else?  My outfit was perfect!  I was comfortable and didn’t regret anything I wore so I would definitely stick with this combination for future concerts.  But I do have to say my friend and I saw some very interesting outfits!  People watching is so fun at a large venue!

The next look is what I’d do if I was going to wear this outfit to dinner and a movie. The only thing I’d really change is the shoes. Here I am wearing my new shoes and I love the way they look with these old shorts of mine. These shoes are so versatile. They are also surprisingly comfortable!

The rain finally quit on Friday so I threw on this outfit and made my son snap some pictures.  It was brighter than bright outside but I decided to leave my sunnies behind and just go for it.  I apologize in advance if the quality of the pictures is not what it should be.  Around here what you see is what you get, this is me.  I am interested in learning to edit and take pictures so they’ll look better but I’ll never photoshop because I don’t see the point.  I also need to learn to pose.  To be honest taking pictures is so hard for me because I simply don’t know what to do and I get super nervous.  Silly, right?  It’s even worse when we do pictures out front because even though we live on a super quiet street every now and then a car drives by and I die!

So if you’re looking for an outfit to wear to a concert my advice is to find something that’s comfortable and stylish. You’ll want to have a good time and enjoy yourself, that’s hard to do when your feet hurt or you’re too hot! You can shop similar cold shoulder tops below, I hope you’ll add one to your wardrobe – I think anyone can wear this style! That’s what’s in This Blonde’s Shopping Bag today, see you back here on Wednesday!

Kellyann

Just Browsing

Happy Friday! I had a different post planned for today but the weather has not cooperated and getting pictures this week has been near impossible. Partially because of the rain and partially because all I’ve been wearing are terry cloth sweat pants! On Wednesday I was out and about running a few errands and I found myself browsing. Just browsing. Well kind of, I did end up buying two pair of shorts at Target but that’s because they are BOGO 1/2 off. Who can pass that up? Besides I had $10 in gift cards #thanksTide.

Target keeps impressing me this year and if you haven’t checked out their Who What Wear line you’re missing out! Cute, cute, cute! Take a look:

The gingham, sleeveless top is precious! Wear it to work with a light jacket and a pencil skirt or slacks. Casually it would look great with shorts or a white denim skirt and colorful sandals.

How about that white kimono? It would look FABULOUS with jean shorts or boyfriend jeans and a tank. A kimono is such great way to add a lightweight layer and elevate a look.

Just when I thought I’d seen all the cuteness I saw this green OTS dress. Which btw, looks way more expensive in person despite the wrinkles. I know they don’t steam clothes because it takes time and they’d have to pay someone but seriously Target, we can’t wait forever for the wrinkles to come out on their own! I was seriously running out of time and had to head to the fitting room to try on shorts. I got these shorts in olive and in blush. But on the way I grabbed a really cute kimono on clearance for $8! This is why I can NEVER leave Target without dropping at least $50! I know I’m not alone, lol.

Later I found myself with approximately 15 minutes to kill so I ran into TJMaxx. Oh, how I love me some TJMaxx! I found a couple of goodies there but didn’t buy anything because I ran out of time. I did snap these pictures and my advice is to head on in now and grab these for yourself!

This gingham top with the bell sleeves was perfection and available in black as well as the blue.   I snapped a picture of the sleeves so you could appreciate them, I just love a bell sleeve!  This shirt seemed so well made and at less than $20 such a good buy. It would be great with white walking shorts and nude wedges.  In cooler weather pair it with jeans and if you love to be bold I think it would be absolutely marvelous with hot pink or kelly green pants.  That’s it, I think I’ve talked myself into buying it!

The linen striped pants were very hard to leave. It’s hard to tell in the picture but they had a thin stripe of blush pink in them as well. Oh the things I could pair those with! Perfect for hot Summer days.  Take them on your beach vacation and comfortably wear them out to dinner with a white tank and pretty silver jewelry and sandals.  So stinkin’ cute!!!!!

And hello cute Gap denim joggers! With the tags still on them! Look at that price difference! These would be perfect with fashionable tennies (aka not the ones you workout in), wedges, or sandals.  They are soft, so soft and here in Florida could be worn 3 out of the 4 seasons.  Okay, that’s just funny because we really only have 2 seasons here: hot and not quite as hot.  But really a crime was committed by me leaving the store empty handed. I need to go back!

Have you stopped into TJMaxx lately? Did you know you can shop TJMaxx online? So much goodness in one place!

If you’re in the market for shorts Target has BOGO 1/2 off right now through Saturday. The shorts I gt are so comfortable with just the right amount of stretch. I’ll link them below.

Happy Friday and happy shopping! That’s what’s in This Blonde’s Shopping Bag today! See you back here on Monday!

Fashionably,
Kellyann

This is 49 -Part 2

Hi friends! Thanks for coming back for part 2 of my birthday shopping trip! After leaving Nordstrom I popped into Loft.  I have $50 in Loft cash to spend and I was hoping the Tampa store would have something different than the two stores near me.  I was happy to see that they did in fact have a few different pieces.  I really liked the romper I tried on. The colors are pretty and it has a cute tassel. I have been on the hunt for a wide leg, cropped trouser so I tried these but I wasn’t crazy about the fit. They looked good enough with this gathered halter top in red . I am mildly interested in jeans with a raw hem so I tried on these . The fit was good, I tried a size 6. I had high hopes for this gingham wrap blouse because it is absolutely adorable! But it did nothing for me except try my patience with all the wrapping and tying. It’s just way too much to fuss with for me and I felt like Sponge Bob Squarepants in it because I have no waist! Of course I was wearing my cold shoulder blue dress because it is both cute and comfy. Although by the end of the day I was tired of taking it on and off! Ultimately I left Loft with NOTHING! Can you believe it? I decided to wait because I wasn’t really in love with anything I tried. Sometimes when I shop Loft I’m hesitant because I know it’s very likely that I’ll see someone else wearing the exact same thing. I may go back this week and get the gathered halter top in red . Check out my fitting room selfies from Loft:

After Loft I found myself in Banana Republic. I don’t really own much from Banana because I always associate them with work or career wear and my style is a little more casual. My friend Jill and I shopped there earlier in May and I had a total change of heart. Jill has a very professional job (big wig with Starbucks!) and she asked me to help her get some new clothes. We found a new wardrobe for her at Banana and I made a mental note to go back! I tried on a few dresses, some shorts, and a couple of tees. I ended up with the tees and a pair of shorts. I liked the dresses but one was a little snug and the buttons didn’t lay flat and the other dress had a broken zipper. As a side note the dress with the broken zipper was my favorite and I wanted it but unless I take up residence at Downtown Abbey and have my own maid to dress me I can’t own that dress. I had to ask the sales associate to zip it for me and she told me the zipper had to be pulled out and away from the body and then zipped. Um, so I can’t zip it myself? Nope. How does anybody pull the zipper out and away and then up? Okay and then the zipper was broken. She didn’t offer to get me another so I took that as a sign that the dress was not for me and that customer service is not what it used to be. How sad. This is why the dress was on clearance and why brick and mortar stores are closing. I couldn’t find the black dress online but you can check in store. It is a great dress and I wish it had worked. This white dress was so cute and if I hadn’t gone to 3 happy hours last week it may have buttoned perfectly. But I don’t buy things hoping I’ll lose weight so they’ll fit. This dress just wasn’t right on my body but it was cute and comfortable and it has pockets! These shorts came home with me and so did this tee and this tee. These tees are really fabulous, the fabric is thick and soft on the striped one and the other is a linen blend – LOVE!

After refueling at Starbuck’s I hit up the Lilly Pulitzer shop. All that pink just makes me happy! I went straight to the sale rack (of course). I found this tunic dress on sale for $69. The print is called “Never Been Betta” and that made me laugh because hey, it’ show I feel right now! I’ll be wearing it not only as a dress but also as a cover up when we go on our cruise in a few weeks!

After Lilly I popped into Gap, Macy’s, Athleta, and Gucci. Gucci was Nolan’s idea. Apparently he’d like a pair of shoes #keepwishing. I saw a few things I liked at Gap but not enough to make me want to try anything on. I was actually tired of getting dressed and undressed. After dinner we went to another mall and I shopped at Macy’s. I did try on a few things but didn’t get any pictures and I decided I didn’t love anything enough to make a purchase. I even looked at handbags, shoes, and accessories and came away empty handed. My husband made out like a bandit though and found shorts ans shirts so it wasn’t a total bust. The boys shopped at H & M where our older son insisted on our younger son getting new clothes. Nolan is always trying to get Collin to step up his fashion game but Collin honestly couldn’t care less. He was a good sport though and we bought him a few new outfits. We also ordered a new ping pong table from Sears that will be delivered later this week. I’d say the day was a great success!

Between the two malls we had dinner at a great Mexican restaurant and once again dined al fresco! That along with a yummy margarita, chips and delicious salsa had me all kinds of happy.

So friends that’s how I started my 49th year. Shopping and eating with my 3 favorite people on the planet. It was a perfect way to spend the day and I thank you for sharing in the experience with me! That’s what’s in This Blonde’s Shopping Bag today!

Fashionably yours,
Kellyann

This is 49 – Part 1

This card cracks me up! I love a funny card and this one just makes me laugh!
Today I am going to do a little recap of how I ushered in my 49th birthday. I hope you’re not bored but it’s kind of nice to have a place to record special events like birthdays and such. So here I go!

My birthday was Saturday but I started celebrating on Friday. One of my besties, Windy, took me for a mani/pedi ,some shopping and lunch. The day was perfect despite a little hiccup at work and having to stop by school to take care of said hiccup. I rebounded well by coming home and baking, also known as my therapy. And yes, I work out like a beast and call that therapy as well. Other than shopping my favorite hobbies are baking and working out – go figure!

The weather was a little cloudy but the view was still a good one and the food was terrific! I feel like when you’re eating on the water you need to eat seafood, right? So here’s what we ordered: tuna for me, salmon for my husband, sushi for Nolan, and a cheeseburger for Collin. I swear there’s one in every crowd, right? I also decided to forego a cocktail because I wanted to be clear headed when I shopped. I guess at 49 I am becoming responsible? Ugh, it was so hard not to order a fabulous drink while enjoying the view!

Next stop shopping. So here’s the deal, I made a list of things I wanted to see at Nordstrom. But you know what? I could hardly find any of them! I don’t know why but I sure was disappointed. I stopped briefly in the shoe department and looked at some of the sale items. I slipped on a few that had gotten rave reviews from other bloggers. Sadly most weren’t comfortable enough for me and my bum foot but I persevered and did end up with this pair in beige. They were surprisingly comfortable and I can’t wait to wear them with EVERYTHING!

Next stop the lingerie department. Years ago Oprah did a show about wearing the correct size bra and she had someone from Nordstrom on. At the time Orlando still had a Nordstrom so I went and got fitted. I loved the experience and the selection. I trusted the woman and felt like she really knew her stuff. Now that the Orlando store has closed I’ve gone to some specialty shops and found decent bras but I really love the selection at Nordstrom. If you’ve never had a professional fitting (Victoria’s Secret doesn’t count) there are a few things you should know. First of all you are going to get very intimate with a stranger or two, in my case there were two ladies helping me (I think one was in training). Secondly be very honest with what you like and don’t like in a bra. Finally be prepared to hear that you’ve been wearing the wrong size. You should really have a professional fitting once a year at least or more if your weight fluctuates. You might also wear different sizes in different bras. But probably the biggest hurdle to get past is having strangers in the fitting room with you while you’re pretty much naked. I don’t care because you know what? They’ve seen better and they’ve seen worse! I ended up with two bras and they cost me a pretty penny. My husband knows that bras are an investment and I tell him this is what happens when you marry a woman built like a brick house. Bwah, hahahahahaha! We usually bust out the lyrics and sing the famed song much to our sons’ chagrin. The two bras I ended up with are this one and this strapless one. They are both by Chantelle and my size? 34 DDD. At that size there’s no way I can just grab a bra anywhere. Well I could but I’d end up with spillage and looking terribly sloppy. Clothing looks so much better when you’re wearing the right undergarments.

My next stop was clothing. I looked around for quite awhile. I wanted a dress to take on vacation but the one I liked online was not in the store. No worries, I found some tops and a pair of shorts to try. I bought this top in white. I love the sleeves and I am always on the hunt for a great white blouse. It’s tunic length and so soft. For size reference I bought a small.

I also got this bell sleeved eyelet top in navy. I got a small in it as well. I’ll wear a cami underneath it. And finally I bought this cold shoulder slub knit tee in royal blue. It’s soft and so pretty. I wanted a top in this color to go with a pair of shorts I already own. Because I wore a dress I grabbed a pair of these shorts in navy to try with the tops. I really liked the fit of the shorts and they were super comfortable in a size 6. I didn’t buy them because I didn’t love the color but they worked like a charm to try the tops on!

I’m going to end part one of my shopping trip and pick up on Wednesday with the rest of the trip. Here’s a quick peek at the results of the shopping trip. I’d say it was a success!

I”ll be back on Wednesday with the second part of the shopping trip, I hope you’ll join me!
Fashionably,
Kellyann
